My original post was not ment to attack certain people or groups,I read the article and agree with his views,Yes drummond the big picture is more than just this part of the article, your point well taken. What I get out of this article is what Val talks about the MODERN CRAZE!!!!!In my opinion these are things that are leading to the demize of the one thing we all are passionate about here on this site...Some we have control over others we dont:Mother nature, predators, loss of winter range, poaching, highways, unethical winter range habits, drought, advanced technology, atv, planes, late tags, wolves in wyoming,media,books,mags....the list goes on,these are things that a trophy buck faces every day of his life,They are products of the world we all live in,Is there a solution?I feel that there needs to be change soon for the animal we all enjoy so much.If you look at what has happened in just the last 10 years I think you will understand the point here. Most of the units across the west are in a slump. Are mule deer able to make a come back?Where are we going to be ten years from now?Can mule deer handle all of these blows,These are the things that in my opinion Val is talking about,I am as passionate about big bucks as the next guy,I enjoy this site, the pics the articles. My intent for the post was not to turn this into a public pissn match,I just see VALS point of view.I liked your post muleyguy, and fin little....just my .02 Paul Pennie

Well I was going to reply to the first Valerius Post but I had to run outside and scrape the big buck sticker off the rear window of my pickup.

After wading through the knee deep crap in the other post I have come to these conclusions. Everyone here loves mule deer. There is no direct link between the number of posts someone has made and his degree of credibility. We aren't very receptive to new members which might be because of the inherent anonymity of the message board. If these were face to face conversations there might be a whole lot more commeradere.

As hunters and sportsmen, we are way to splintered. Seperated into groups that are species specific and hunting method specific has divided us. Too many eogs running these organizations that know full well we would be better off and more effective bonded together into one instead of worrying about our own favorite ungulate, bird and or weapon.

That being said. How many deer hunters across the West don't belong to the Mule Deer Foundation? That number far outweighs the number of hunters who are members. Can you imagine the power an organization could have if even half of all mule deer hunters were members?

The MDF has had a rocky track record but they are still around after 15 years and that is a testament to nothing more than the drive and desire of the volunteers who make up the MDF. Directors and board members have come and gone but the grass roots of the organization remain. I urge all who love mule deer to join and help support the MDF. 25 bucks a year? Come on!
