Okay, now that the 03 season is over, what parts of the West do you think produced the biggest bucks? I know that many exceptional bucks were entered in the MM contest but there are many that were not. What states or provinces produced the biggest and the baddest bucks of the year that you know of? NOTE: This is not a post for whinning about how bad your state is. We've heard enough whinning lately.

My vote goes to Western Canada.

But as BCBoy stated, there are many many good bucks taken that were not entered in the MM big buck contest, or even posted at all.

Every year giant bucks are shot only to be nailed to the barn door or shed door or just "thrown in with the other antlers in the garage or shed" rather than entering them into books or getting them scored.

Many Western Canada record class bucks that do make their way to the book or boone and crockett are bucks that actually are "discovered in someones home" that has never been scored.

This includes the new current BC record buck that was scored 2 yrs ago. The buck was shot 12 years previous to that.

No doubt many bucks and other big game animals of record class, or of huge size are shot year after year in North America that will never find its way to the book merely because that sportsman does not place the value of the hunt as needing to enter the animal or show the animal to other people other than immediate family and friends.

I peronally beleive showing the success of other hunters animal (small or big and in between) is a great way to share the stories, success and the adventure of the hunt.

Thats a tough call BC Boy. Just from what I've seen so far if I could lump Alberta and BC together I think theyd have it, but who knows? Lot more hunters down here and there were surely a lot of big bucks taken. I too know of at least 10 bucks worthy of many hours of discussion on this site that will never be shown here.

I agree with BCbucks too, I think its fun to talk about the harvest and I also think its cool to see big antlers and medium antlers too. It honors the buck for sure to show him off.

What do you think BCboy?

To start off, I want to hear about this CO buck that makes Moses look like a wittle baby.

I have heard many a rumor and saw many a picture of some monsters from Western Canada (BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan). Just have a look at Saskman's site, www.saskatchewanbucks.com to see some of the monsters from that province. I know that BCBucks is right about the fact that many bucks from 03 won't be discovered until many years from now. Many, many hunters here really don't really care about the trophy size of an animal. If they are fortunate to harvest a monster it ends up in the woodshed too many times.

I think CO really had some toads come out of there this past year. Look at the ones posted on this site. Look at the 2 monster typicals that were taken on Magnum Mulies 3. And how many others out there that a Northern boy like me hasn't heard about?

There are several states I would like to hear more on. How about Arizona this year? Were there many monsters to come out of there? What about Wyoming? New Mexico? Nevada? I haven't heard much about the bucks that came out of these areas this year.

I guess what a monster muley nut like me really wants to know, what's the biggest, baddest brute that you've heard about this year?
Here's one of the biggest I've heard about from BC this year. I haven't heard an official measurement yet, but it is plain to see it is a HAWG!

CANADA,WITHOUT DOUBT!!!

BUT DO YOU REALLY WANT THE PUBLICITY???

I CAN TELL YOU FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN IN THE PAST,THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH COULD BE DESTROYED WITH A LITTLE MISMANAGEMENT!!!

CAN I COME UP AND HUNT A SEASON WITH YOU FOR A TRADE TO HAVE YOU COME DOWN HERE AND I'LL SHOW YOU A LITTLE OF WHATS GOING DOWN HERE???

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING:IF I'M EVER GONNA SEE A NICE 'RACK',I MIGHT HAVE TO PAY BCBOY OR PAMELA ANDERSON A VISIT,THEY'RE BOTH FROM CANADA AINT THEY???

BOBCAT,
I think Pam (the nice wholesome BC girl that she is) is kinda like those bucks from Sportsman Warehouse. FAKE!!!

I'm not too worried about advertising that Western Canada is a great place to hunt muleys. It doesn't mean that I'm going to see more hunters in my neck of the woods. Since nonresidents can only hunt with licenced guides and outfitters we're pretty safe keeping the hunting pressure low. LOL! I don't see that policy changing anytime in the near future.

OK, maybe I exadurated a little about the wittle baby thing. Nevertheless, it was a beast. I don't have pictures, my nephew just dropped by with a pic one day. He said a guy he worked with for a while shot it near Rifle, Co. Maybe someone else knows something more about it. The other one came from Unit 10 near the Deserado Mine. I'm sure there were many others that I don't know about.

DAMN

I HATE FAKE 'RACKS'!!!

I MIGHT HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A SMALLER 'RACK',AT LEAST I'LL KNOW IT'S REAL!!!

SO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS YOU WON'T LET ME COME UP AND HUNT WITH YOU HUH???

YOU'RE A GUIDE AIN'T YOU???

YOU MEAN IT WILL HAVE TO BE SOMEBODY LICENSED TO SHOW ME PAMS 'RACK'???

THE ONLY bobcat WONDERING WHERE THERE MIGHT BE A NICE 'RACK'???

You have a computer don't ya? I don't think it is that hard to see Pam's rack. LMAO!

If I am ever lucky enough to win big in the lotto, I'll buy a good territory and you can come up and hunt on my tab how bout that? LOL!

Dont have any specifics but I do know they killed a toad in AZ and also one in Nevada. Word is Nevada is the new place, which means nobody but me should bother putting in for the strip anymore! But hey how does Canada even count for this? You act like we care about what happens there!LOL!!! Just keep sending us goaltenders like Brian Boucher, so we can brag about desert hockey!!! And if you keep bragging about your bucks we'll have to steal them like we stole hockey!!!winkwink

BCBOY

THE ONLY bobcat WONDERING WHERE THE HELL BCBOY'S HONEY HOLES ARE???AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT PAM ANDERSON IS ONE OF THEM!!!

Yeah, where are the Wyoming and Idaho deer?? I cant remember seeing any pigs from Idaho this year?

I am continuing to pressure a guy for a pic of a supposed 37 incher outta MT. I have seen several others from MT, but unfortunately the hunters dont want to publicize them :0(

Well guys,
I'll eventually be posting a pic and story of my buddies deer we killed in region G this year. It was pretty good. It was a 5X6 with a 28" outside spread and a little drop tine. It was a really old buck and was the talk of the town when we brought it in to the store. One taxidermist in town told us it was the biggest he'd seen in several years. It was a really old buck with a torn ear and a lot of palmation. Not bad for two non residents who had never hunted or scouted it, on public land by the way:)

It would be hard to argue about the big mulies that came out of Canada this year. Some of you guys (i.e BCBOY, SASKMAN and others that way)have sent some great pictures to prove it.

Of the top 3 bucks that I picked in the MM Big Buck contest, 2 of them were shot in Canada. Canada gets my vote.

Looks like Colorado is holding some great bucks as well. I would love to say Utah because that is where I do the majority of my hunting but I'm not seeing the bucks (at least on this site).

Take twice the leghth of the outline from the pan handle of Oklahoma & spread it out across Nevada, Utah & Colorado at the 38th parellel, that would be my guess to the Question, due to better than normal moisture durring critical horn growing months.
I posted some pictures of deer taken in those latitudes & I'm guessing the deer on this post were taken from that same narrow band, throw out the Pauns. from said guestimation.

I'm with everyone else on this one. Canada is defintely the leader, but we should be more specific. Western Canada covers a heckuva lot of country. From what I've seen, and I'm sure I have not seen much (as has been pointed out) I'd have to go with SASKMAN and his country. In the lower 48, I'd still go with Colorado.

And BCBOY, if you'd call in the napalm and knock out all those danged trees, maybe I'd come to BC and hut. Right now, there's way too many trees for a podunk rimrock and plains hunter like me to have any chance at success.

HEY, DIDN'T YOU GUYS READ THE RULES, ONLY US RESIDENTS ALLOWED! CANADA DON'T COUNT! Just kidding guys!
As far as the biggest, hmmm, don't know but BCBoy has sent in some beauties this year!
