Unit 23 NM archery

Anyone ever hunt the panhandle of unit 23 or in unit 15? Stories, pics, any info would be awesome!!

I've hunted both units and know the units very well. The northern part of 23 has more numbers but with thay more hunters also. Unit 15 is a great unit lots of elk and lots of country.

Lookin to draw a tag in a unit where I have a good chance at a good 300-340 bull. Looks like unit 23 might be good being along side the Gila and Arizona(I think unit 1). I hear unit 52 has a lot of elk but might put in for a unit that has better quality bulls. Just lookin for all the info I can find. Thanks!!!

I've archery hunted elk in NM for the 9 of the past 10 years and taken bulls 6 of the 9 times I've hunted. The three times I got skunked were all in unit 23. (2001, 2003 & 2005) Every time I've been, I've sworn I would never go back. The last time there, I was close on several occassions but never even saw the beast that was bugling even though I was w/in 30 yards. The elk in that unit have been overhunted, over called and etc. There are some good bulls. However, there is also a ton of country between the good ones and often lots of hunters chasing the same bugle your chasing.

Unit 15 is a great unit, though not what it was ten years ago.
