I grew up hunting this area and it won't bother me to never return. Since the burn it's caused an absolute slaughter on the buck population. For the first couple of years it opened up areas for the lazy roadhunters to get to areas normally they'd have to walk into. The bucks were nailed by the dozens and it still sounds like a war come opening morning, however way more than the majority killed are forks and dinky 3 pts. A good friend of mine who's OSP was working the silvies this year during the season. He checked over 400 bucks and none were over 24", and only a handfull of 4 pts. Very Very sad compared to what this unit once was. Four years ago I picked over 12 bucks (very small) before I found a shooter but I traveled to pretty extreme places to find him. I have pictures of a single days hunt where we killed 7 bucks out of one canyon, the smallest was a 4x3 that was 28 wide. A whopper will always come out once in a while, but there are definitely better units currently.
