just bought a pair of Swarovski EL 10x42 binocs. Wow! very lightweight and what a clear view. can't wait to use them in the field this summer/fall. Anyone else using the same??

TMAN,

Your wording through me off, I figured you got a unit that was defective or something. Don't have the EL's but have the SLC's and love them, best investment I have made in some time, even though high dollar.

TMAN, I am considering getting me some as well. Were did you get yours and how much if you don't mind me asking?

Enjoy em'!

I use the same ones as well as their spotting scope, well worth the extra money IMHO. Great choice.......................rf

Hey NvrEnuf
After you look at the SLC's take a look at Leica Ultravids. All I can say is AWESOME. Check them out but do not go until you are serious because you will want them. Not cheap though I paid $1400.00 for 10x42's WORTH EVERY PENNY

well that puts me outta the ball park.........

Manny, I don't think I can bring myself to spend $1400 on the Leicas. I'm sure they are great but hell, I'm having a hard enough time trying to justify $1000 for the EL's! I have a buddy that says he can get them for pretty close to that. I doubt I will find a better deal than that.

Thanks though,

NvrEnuf

The SLC are a grand plus now. The EL's are over 14 hundred last time I looked!!! I decided to stick w/ what I got for a while. They are nice though. Worth the money??? Sure, if you got it.

Check out Bearbasin.com
I bought my Kahles from them for well UNDER a grand and I'm
very happy with them.

I would guess that the glass in the SLC's is the same as the EL's so you can save a few bucks and carry a bit more weight and buys 10x42's in the SLC's for around 1000.00 like OSOK said. I use the 10's and 15 SLC's and love them and they are more durable than the EL's..........just my penny thoughts........ Allen Taylor......

Dont they have some kind of payment plan? So much a month or something.....thats what my dad has told me....if it is that way I would consider getting a pair. Right now I have a pair of Sightron binos. They are pretty good but probably not even close to the other brands.

I'd spend that much over and over but I got my pair for free thanks to some guy who can't pick up his gear. Oh by the way I just love the clarity and low eye strain. I can stair through them for hours and not feel any different.

Hey guys,
I am tman (at home) and wrote this post. Yeah, the EL's are quite the number. I had the 10x42 SLC's for about 8 years and loved them. They were a great pair of glasses. Started looking at the EL's and comparing, so the local gun dealer took my SLC's in on a trade. He wanted $1395. msrp for the new ones and with my trade it was $700. out the door. Thats about the best deal on them I've seen as Cabela's wants $1595. for them. The EL's have the swarobright lens which reduce eye strain (never felt much with the slc's) are magnesium housing and are lighter and much clearer than the old ones. I'm doing a dall sheep hunt this summer in the Yukon and wanted the absolute lightest best glass around and have found it for sure in these. If you haven't looked through them, go find a pair at your local shop and give em a try. They are costly, but isn't everything and one thing I didn't want to slouch on was glass, especially on a high $$$ sheep hunt. I'm sure the Lieca's and Ziess binocs are good too, but in my opinion you can't beat the Swarovski's. (I have a Zeiss scope on my 300 WBY mag) and like it better than the Swarovski scope....but for binoc's these are the ones.
Good luck to you all, happy hunting....
I hope to post a nice ram this fall on the sheep page.
Ps. didn't mean to throw you off on the terminology with bad binocs.....I just meant Baaaaaa (as in sheep) baaaaad binocs!!

Hey multiple personality boy, whats the deal ?
do you have an alter ego ?
should I address you as, Denali or T-man

2 years ago while in Mexico, I too picked up a pair of EL's & haven't looked back, yes they are most likely grey market, however I just sent them in for repair(left/right focas)& they were retured with no cost & free winged eye cups attached.
I love them.

speaking of Mexico, Huntsonora, I miss you around here & sure hope I haven't pissed you off.

Hey BFE, have you never sent in a warranty card or anything? And they still did it for free, thats awesome.

The EL's are by far the BEST feeling in my hands, but I like the Leica optics better. Its a toss up for me. I have about $800 saved up right now. I dont know if I should keep saving and get the EL's or the Ultravids or just go for the Trinovids or the SLC's?!?!?! Choices, choices.

B.F.E. = Bino's Finest EL's
I don't know how you got that one Denali,
Here one Extra credit for you .....BFD ?
As far as the job goes, The University Utah offered me 20-g's for one testicle, & since I'm recovering from a vasetomy anyway, I may just take the job.
Hornseeker, In answer to your question, Im not sure, when these painers ware-off, I'll try to remember, I can't remember what I had for lunch right now.
