Does anyone know anything about this buck?

It is I think. A friend of mine from Challis says it is owned by the Rainbowsend bed and breakfast. I am just curious of the story behind it. There is a small store/gas station that has a picture of this deer hanging on the wall. The owner says he took the picture of the deer and a couple of days later it was illegally taken. I think that it is an old mount in the sage brush.

You can kinda see the legs on it....but it could just be more sage brush. All I gotta say is ONE HELLOFA BUCK!

My dad had the same picture (in a frame) about ten years ago. Not sure where he got it but it seems to me like it was something for sale in a sporting goods store.

I saw the sme picture in a gas station in Hamilton, Mt. They old man in there said the picture was taken by a mountain biker, while riding up on Lolo Pass, Mt. Who knows?

If this is the same Photo I have seen before it should have 2 does to the Left and one to the right or vice versa. If this is that Photo then this buck Photographed on the Sheldon National Antelope Refuge in Nevada. It was Photo's on the Late 60's or Early 70's. and if i am not mistaken it measures upwards of 50"

I had this picture sent to me while I was writing my book "Idaho's Greatest Mule Deer". A guy claimed he took the photo in 1998 in Bear Lake County and gave me a complete story on what happened when he took the picture. Only problem-----I personally saw this picture nearly ten years before that on my cousin's wall. Strike one!!! When I confronted him with that, I never heard from him again. Hunters are such kidders. Ha!
So far just the rumors I have heard on this one:
Picture taken on Deschutes River in Oregon
Picture taken in Northern Utah
Picture taken on Antelope Refuge in Nevada
Picture taken in Bear Lake County in Idaho
That buck had one heck of a wide territory, didn't he?
I, too, would like to know the truth. I thought about putting it in my book and asking this same question, but decided against it.

I'm not positive but pretty sure that picture is also hanging in a bar in NV. Seen it for the first time about 15 years ago, heard the same thing that it was a mount hidden in the brush. By looking at it here, where is the rest of the body????

I guess I will give you my story on this buck. There is a secluded lake side store in Wyoming with this picture. The owner of the store is a reputable hunter and fisher. His mom usually is in the store. I noticed the picture in the store several years ago. well a friend of mine and I were on our way to the winter range and he wanted to stop and see the picture. My buddy asked the elderly woman in the store about the picture, and she said. "My son took that picture in Idaho a long time ago." Well I say if you are going to lie about a deer make sure it hasn't traveled the Western United States first. Oh yea, why did my buddy want a picture of it? So we could take it back to work and tell a couple of the Big Buck Hunters what we seen on the winter range. We had some good laughs with the picture. I am going to put this picture on a Iron On patch for my buddy that took the picture.

This picture is fake... I also have a copy and if you look at it close... you will see the horn sticking out on the right side of the picture is all shaded where some of the other horns have sun hi-lights... nobody has ever seen a mount of this deer its only a picute that has been alterd...but fun to look at!

ROFL
this pic was also hanging in the Current Creek Cafe for years. Claimed an Indian took the pic out in Hill Creek. LOL don't you think IF it was real, and IF it had been taken, we'd see more of this guy in like B&C or something?...lol
Good luck on your trail.

One thing I know, CAhunter, is that there isn't a stick of sage brush anywhere Near Lolo Pass! hehehe

I'm sure I've seen the pic too, but cant remember where. :0)

I have a copy of this picture that I have had for about 13 years. I got it from a person who told me a railroad engineer had taken it from a train in wyoming. So there is another version for you to add to the list. I have always wondered if it was real picture and true story/

All the posts are great. I knew that guy at the little gas station was full of it. That is why I put the picture on here. I wanted to hear the real story behind it. All the real story's. HAHAHA

I shot that buck about 18 years ago while I was out ridein my mountain bike up on the Sheldon. Since it's one of my smaller heads I sold it to the Rainbow B&B a few years later for $100 so I could buy a new sheep skin covered gel seat for my bike. Maniac said he used to put the mount out in the sage by the train tracks just to drive the old engineer crazy. The engineer would slam on the brakes and take pictures of it then sell them at all the train stations around the country. I guess thats how all the confusion got started. Now you know the real story behind this buck. With Maniac havin to file chapter 13 and sell off all his mounts look for this one to show up on Ebay soon.

I like that story treehugginbunnyhumper.
My cousin had a copy of that picture for at least 15 years. He said it was taken in Utah. hmm I'll bet we could get a hundred more stories. Although I would like to hear what Cass knows about it!?
Jeff

Damn!, no wonder he was all up in hussy to sell all his mounts and those funny looking iron thingies and 'make more room' for the new stuff.

MIKIE SAYS BIGFOOT TOOK THE PICTURE! HAHAHHAH!
