LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-04 AT 11:29PM (MST)[p]Hello,
This is Ryan Hatfield (Idahonative to all you muley lovers). I have been on this site almost since its inception and have seen many things come and go, most of them pretty entertaining (Buckspy, DeerKing, Moosie come to mind. Even Cass on occasion).
For the last six years, I have been collecting stories on big Idaho bucks. For the first three, there was no intention of writing a book. It was simply out of interest of the old-timers who hunted in the Golden Era and a desire to try to preserve those old stories before they were gone. It snowballed, however, and what I ended up with was 412 pages of some of the most ridiculous bucks I could ever have imagined possible.
To me, the book is not nearly so much about the hunter or the score as it is just a chance to pay tribute to these breath-taking animals. In the end, I hope I have done them a little bit of justice.
Anyway, I would like to invite you to take a look at the book. I am currently running an ad in the mule deer photos page for those who are interested. Thanks for looking, and I hope you will all enjoy the book. It was a real pleasure to be able to put it together. For those who would like to contact me, my email is [email protected]. Take care. Ryan

I can't wait to get my copy to add to the collection. How did you get Leon Parson to let you use his latest mulie piece on the cover?

Welcome back Maniac!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've missed you like I can't describe here.

Buckspy, wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me that question. Don't want to get into specifics, but it was an Idaho book by an Idaho author, and while I did have other options, it only seemed fitting to have an Idaho artist. He and I were able to come to an agreement. Now that I see it finished, I can't possibly imagine anything else on the front. What a beautiful painting. People sure do like it. It still amazes me how many people not only know who painted it but also know the name of the painting. I guess I have to take back everything I have ever said about deer hunters. They know their stuff!

I love that print. Unfortunatly, it is still in a box in a closet. I need to find some money to get it framed and on the wall.

Sounds like a great book' I'll be ordering one soon, it make's me a little sad though that the good ole days may be gone for ever....at least you've recorded some of 'em, this book will be a must have deal...... wish I'd started hunting outta state sooner......

Hey IDnative, I got the book at the ISE show here in UT and I love it. I've got this type of book from 4 different states now and I think yours is the best. It doesn't hurt to have Leon's stuff on and in it. Thanks for putting it together, Steve

The book is great. Came yesterday and I didn't get to it till 930 last night. Didn't go to sleep till I looked at every page, and read about 15 stories or so!

Good Job Ryan,

Idahonative,

Ryan this book is a real good one. I received it yesterday and just finished reading through it. Some great stories and most of all, the pictures.
The "old pictures" were outstanding too.

I wish you great success on this book and any more editions in the future, a job well done.

Brian

Brian and everyone, thanks again for all the nice comments. It definitely makes it all worth it. It's been a really special thing to be part of. Keep reading... and dreaming.
