nevada unit 014

anyone spent much time in unit 014 northwestern nevada? thought about putting in for deer in this unit but have never been there. just looking for terrain type and if there are quality animals there. no need for direct locations i can find them later.

Go the website of Nevada and look for the Hunter Information Sheets section, click on Unit 014 and there all all types of info that will help you in that location. Very helpful info and what they recommend about the area.

I have spent a little time in that unit, not deer hunting. Some giant bucks have come out of there in the past. Deer numbers in Nothern Washoe are down. It is one of the most difficult units to draw in the state.
Resident hunters last year had the following drawing success:
0 points: 2 of 219
1 point: 5 of 144
2 points: 14 of 117
3 points: 3 of 41
4 points: 3 of 19
5 points: 0 of 10
6 points: 1 fo 1
I can only imagine the non resident odds. Last year the harvest success rate was 68% with 42% of the deer harvested being a 4 point or larger.

i know the unit like the back of my hand,there are huge bucks there, very low number of tags,some chuckar hunters early in the season.very hard to draw.some areas have alot of deer some very low density.can be a great hunt or very hard.good luck trying to draw!Gordon

I drew years ago and missed the bigest buck of my life, 33" wide x 24" tall, I know this cause he ran over a nob and got nailed by a local who was looking for him...

I know this thread is over 10 years old, but just wondering if any of you guys are still around? I drew the muzzy tag for Unit 014 this year and I have some questions if you're willing to speak with me. Got my maps and trying to narrow down some areas with some questions that I have.
