Fence Buck (Pictures)!!!!!

After spending all day watching a couple of my favorite bucks last January I realized it was getting late and decided I should probably head for home. On my way out I figured I would stop and try to get a couple pictures of a good buck I had seen earlier that day. When I saw the buck earlier he was bedded in the sage brush so I couldn't really get any good pictures. It was shedding time and I wanted to check him once more before I headed out. As I pulled up I could see the buck was still bedded in the same place as he had been earlier that day. I took a picture of the bedded buck and watched him for a bit. After 10 or 15 minutes he finally stood up. I figured I had plenty of room for more pictures on the digital camera so I snapped away not knowing what was about to happen. The picture that shows the buck ready to jump the fence is when things got a little weird. He actually didn't end up jumping that time. He acted as if he was going to jump 5 or 6 times. Between each time he would back away from the fence and think about it for a second. I couldn't figure out what the deal was. Imagine my surprise when he finally decided to jump the fence and one side plopped on the ground! I had to force myself to sit tight and take that last picture. Out of excitement I almost jumped out of the truck and missed getting the last one. I am thinking maybe the buck knew his head gear was getting loose and didn't want to jerk them off by jumping? Who knows for sure? The last picture of him with only one side is a little rough. It was getting pretty dark by the time he finally jumped the fence but the pictures still turned out ok. Pretty lucky huh! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

AWESOME pics. Guess you were in the right place at the right time. What did that one side score?

Thanks for the comments guys!

You're pretty close on the score guess BrianID. If anyone else wants to give it a whirl go for it. I'll post what the shed scores tomorrow morning.

Cool picks. Nice buck!!! He has some deep forks. He also looks like he might be fairly young and have a little more growing to do. Any idea on the age?

That's pretty cool, nice pics. Only one question, did you go back to find the other shed yet?

Lucky Dawg,

Pretty sweet buck for what looks to be a 3.5 y/o too. Congrats!

Did you make it back to look for the other side?

I say 82"
Those are great pics! I hope you find the other side. Congrats!!!

Ah, that's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too easy a way to find a shed (lol).

Nice goin, and great pics, thanks for sharing them!

Sweet pictures and you are 1 lucky dude. you should go buy a lottery ticket!

No doubt I am lucky! I have spent a few hours looking for the other side but have not been able to find it yet. The last time I went up looking I actually found a really nice brown 4pt shed that's off another buck. That shed has just under 20" of mass. Now I have 2 reasons too keep looking around in that area. Either match would be great to find! The thing that's a little discouraging is that I've seen a few boot tracks right in that area and am not sure if someone else has already scooped the other sides up? I'll spend a few more hours checking just to make sure but it's not looking too promising.

Oh, we actually have a winner on the score guess. Ol' Hornaddiction nailed it right on the head at 82". Nice job man!

Thanks for all of your comments on the pictures. I'm glad you liked them.

This is the first place I always walk when I go out on my land is the fenceline, just for this reason. When they are ready to drop they will everytime once they jump a fence!
