I was wondering how many of you and your hunting budies drive a truck with a cracked windshield. 6 out of eight in my hunting group do. I happen to have two a 88 toyota and a 94 chev. Both of my cracks were self inflicted off road driving kicking up rocks.
Good luck

Two of my three vehicles do, my Chevy has some nicks like bb gun marks but it's only a year&1/2 old. It'll happen.

i live in wyoming. i dont think you can register a pickup without a broken windshield here. kinda like a smog check everywhere else. i thought thats what the temporary plates you get on a new vehicle are for? to give ya a month to break the windshield and "pinstripe" it.

Once, in the San Luis Valley of Colorado I had a windshield broken by a Jackrabbit. It jumped straight up just before I was going to run over it and hit the windshield. Made me flinch.

I had that happen with a wild turkey once, got to thinking if I had been on a dirt bike it would have been deadly. I once had a chicken fly into my grill, you kinda guess the outcome.
I was drinking a few beers that day and we liberated that chicken, from being entangled in the grill of my 1954 international pickup, very tasty to a couple of college kids.

I was after a yetti one time up in the crow river area. a big red one stopped picked up a big rock and smashed my window right out. Dam yetti. This is a great post!

me too! waiting for Johnny law to give me the fix it before I fix it only too get another!

I've broke two windshields. The first I was going about 90 when I smacked a spotted owl. No kiddin'. I was miles from the nearest old growth. The second was from a wildturkey. I thought that bird was going to be in my lap. I stopped to get some fly tying feathers. I gave his tail a yank, and the bastard came to life. I had one leg in my hand and this big bird trying to pummel me. Then he tried pecking my eyeballs out. I finally got a hand around his throat, but couldn't break his neck. It finally dawned on me to let him go. He flew off with one tailfeather. No chicks for him for this year. I did get some great turkey feathers though.

I'm with saminwy...if you got a truck in Wyoming without a crack in the windshield either it never leaves the garage or you haven't drove it home from the dealers yet.

powderburn,

I thinks cracks on a windshield are kind of like battle scars; when you see the crack you are reminded of a particular trip or adventure. My windshield has two big cracks and about seven stars (can anybody top that?), that makes me a real man doesn't it? Seriously though, since rock chips are inevitable, it's a lot less annoying to get a chip on a windshield that's already cracked than a pretty new one.

My 88 toyota has around 12 stars and two major cracks. It only took 345,000n miles to aquire those scars.

We are 3 for 3 at my house!!! The jeep, the SUV, and the truck all have cracked windshields. It is so funny you should mention that, we were just talking about it yesterday. B.
