unit 27 new mexico

Been putting in for the Dec hunt for the last 3 years and haven't got drawn. Did any one get lucky last year and hunt this area. Just like to know if I'm wasting my time.

i have hunt around unit 27 before the draw system started!

i do pretty good down there...haven't killed a coues yet, mostly muledeer...

maybe crazyaboutcoues on MM, he lives down there in silver city...

I doubt your wasting your time. Unit 27 is a very good unit if you do your homework. There is alot of private land in that unit. Last year my son drew unit 23 Burro MT area, only 25 tags. It's a hard draw but in my opinion it's well worth it.

Yes, we had an awsome hunt. We passed up 13 bucks and had two missed opportunities on 180 class muleys. He ended up taking this 23" 3 point.

I hunted 27 in 2002--not for deer though for sheep. I didnt see any great mulies but I did see some nice coues.
