Hi: a good friend of mine drew a tag to Hunt #30-016 in Utah. He drew the only non resident tag. He is a viet nam disabled vet, has had a stroke but lives to hunt mule deer. Really a great guy. We both live in Salmon, Idaho. The area in Utah he drew is near the Delorse Triangle, hunt number 30-016. I am trying to help him get on the right track. He cannot aford a guide or an outfitter. Nor does he have the ability to get on a computer. From what I understand this area is known for big bucks. We got to work together to get this man a great buck. Anyone that can help please e-mail me at [email protected]. Or post some notes on this site. Any of you Utah hunters that can help him out I will sure return the favor if you want to hunt elk, bear of deer in the Salmon area of Idaho! Thanks Jerry

Damn Jerry, I wish I could help but I have never heard of Delorse Triangle. What Region is it in?

The disabled vet drew a permit in the hunt#016, La Sal, near the Dolores Triangle, and you can reach him by phone at 208-894-2360, and thanks for your help! I'm a neighbor of his.

Hunt unit 016 is the Dolores Triangle, La Sal national forest lands, basically this hunt is the winter range for many Colorado deer, there are some resident deer generally down closer to the rivers, deep snows can make this an incredible hunt, weak snows can result in a bust, tell your buddy to invest in a GPS & that way he could patrol the Colorado boarder. there is access to the unit down by the confluence of the Colorado & the Dolores rivers, not for the faint of heart since you must cross the river in your outfit & some trucks have been known to never leave the river bottom.
A fairly flat unit with many roads. Tell him congratulation.
