He was at a lodge I stayed at this weekend, probably a 20-30 year old mount or more ... what do ya'll think he'll score ?

I bet you this buck scores better than he looks. I am guessing around 192 gross...........Allen Taylor......

I didn't try and tape him, just the more I looked the higher I thought he might go. He's not wide, but tall, and his forks are really nice .... the rack has character and deserving a new cape and cleaning for sure ! I was thinking 170" gross myself ...

No eye guards on him. That's an automatic lose of about 9" of mass or so not to mention 4" of what should have been there for eye guards. If he had eye guards I think he would be a bunch closer to 190 but I just don't think he'll go over mid 170's without them. Nice buck though!

Those backtines are awesome and makes that buck special. those back tines back a 4 X 4 by themselves. I say hes right under 180

How wide is he ? Dang I wish I'd have thrown a tape on him now, ya'll are guessing him higher than I expected. Like I said, the longer I looked at him the more I though wow, those forks really are nice !

If I can, I'll take pictures of a monets 3x3 my buddys grandpa killed a few decades back - hugh old buck

The score, well that depends. If this is a USA buck then 175, if he is from Canada then probably more like 235.

I agree with Allen...I believe the rack is somewhat deceptive. The overall width...the deep forks...extra tines...the rack starts adding up even without the eyeguards. Low 190's gross

NvrEnuf,

What do you mean by he will lose 9" of mass. I thought that when you are missing one of the points such as the G1 in this case. You just take the measurement in the middle of the horn between G2 and burr then times that by two.

I'm not an official measurer so I just wanted to know if that is the case.

LAST EDITED ON May-20-04 AT 04:54PM (MST)[p]You are correct Idahobugler. If brow point is missing, take H-1 and H-2 at smallest place between burr and G-2. Of course you will still be out 2-4" for the missing G-1's, but not for the circumferences.

I will guess him at 178".

im with browtine on this, he is about a mid 180's buck. where was this lodge you stayed at?

The lodge was in northern Arkansas - I have no idea where the buck was bought at or the history behind it. Theres a muley at a junk store near my home that looks as big as this, a clean 4x4 for $125 .... I should go and buy that deer, shouldn't I ??
