We see deer here in town all the time, sometime nice bucks too. I remember in elementry school they would come up from the creek right int he middle of town and check us out on the playground.

Yeah, I have seen nice bucks at various places here in Colorado Springs. I have actually seen deer use the crosswalks. I saw it in Utah once and here as well. It is very surreal to see a buck wait for the light to change and then walk right in front of the stopped cars like it was no big deal. It seems that at least some mule deer can live with humans like whitetails can.

My dad lives in a small central Utah town and one day last fall after scouting for bucks all day long in the local mountains he came home that night and saw a 28-30 inch buck eating apples from the tree in his back yard. Too bad the buck was killed a few days later on the highway near his house.

When my brother and I pulled up to ben avery shooting range there was one right in front of us by the parking lot.

ROYAL GORGE IN COLORADO

HAD TO STOP FOR A NICE BUCK IN THE ROAD,HE CAME UP TO THE DRIVERS WINDOW AND TRIED STICKING HIS HEAD IN,HAD SOME FRITO'S,MAN DID HE LIKE THEM SALTY FREETO'S,HE GOT A LITTLE RAMBUNCTIOUS WHEN THEY WERE GONE,AND TO THINK I'VE HUNTED A LIFETIME IN THE UTARD STATE AND THEM SIZE OF BUCKS AIN'T LETTING ME GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO FEED THEM,HELL THEY AIN'T LETTING ME GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO SHOOT THEM!!!

I was working in Boulder,Colorado about 5 years ago at a office complex. I walked out of the building to get a tool out of my truck but before I could get the tool I had to spook a 4 point buck away from my trucks tailgate. For some reason the buck was standing in the parking lot looking in the back of my truck. I was real suprised to see a deer right downtown!

I saw two this weekend, one was standing in the middle area of the freeway at about 3p.m. He didn't look injured or scared, and the other ran across the road in front of me in down town Okanogan. Freaked me out. I know to watch for deer in that neck of the woods, but not usually in the crosswalk. Someone should cite him for jaywalking.

Did not see it but it was in the newspapers last week here in CA but the CHP had to escort a Blacktail doe from the Marin County side of Golden Gate Bridge all away across the Bridge to San Fransisco side and it took off and ran into the Presidio Park.

Had a 6x6 buck come right up to our houseboat at lake Shasta one summer. Pretty incredible sight. We were actually worried he was going to get on and had to scare him off.

The same weekend we were out in our boat right in the middle of the lake, and had to stop for two does swimming all the way across the lake. I know the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, but Lake Shasta!?!?

Our shooting range is located in a river bottom backing up against the hills. Quite often you have to take a smoke break to let the deer cross the range. The range is located within city limits so snapping a tag is out of the picture.

Another Boulder, CO sighting. I was riding the bus home from work, rush hour traffic in the middle of town (28th & Valmont). I looked out the window and saw two does walking down the sidewalk in front of 7/11.

We were bow hunting elk in Colorado... we came back to camp at noon and had two buck deer in our camp.... I got an apple out and they came right up and ate out of our hand... darndest thing I ever saw!

LAST EDITED ON May-25-04 AT 05:38PM (MST)[p]down town salt lake city....That was a big surprise!

my grandpa and i were driving through the white mountains in uint 1, on the main highway that takes ya past, a1 lake, hawley, bog tank and all those. we see this about 27" buck on the side of the road so we pulled over and backed up to go see him. well to make a long story short we watched him for about 10 mins and hes just sitting here looking at us. i decided to get out of the jeep and see how close i can get, when i get to him he doesnt move, turns out he was hit by a car and i guess was watching the traffic go buy when he died and rigamortis just set in, his head was up like he was looking at traffic. it was a really weird thing!!!

In an irrigation canal trying to get out and floating towards town. I am sure he didn't make it. Yes, we tried to get him help but got no response from fish and game.

Two days ago my wife was a chaparone (sp) for her schools 8th grade picnic. One kid was playing down by the creek when a buck came out, circled a few times then charged the kid ears back and all, knocking him down. Never thought a buck in velvet would do such a thing, thought that velvet was sensitive. All accounts note that the buck was unprovoaked, but we all know kids. Lil' Johnny has multiple bruises and is catching a rash of bleep from the other kids. Even the deer in kalifornia are craaaazzzyy!!

Muley Man!

As the Deerking might say, he was a dink. But, the zoo is really first class, especialy the crocodile show. After seeing the show and learning a bit about crocs and the way they feed them I felt the media gave old Steve Irwin AKA the Crocodile Hunter a bad deal.
