Hello all,

I have a friend who is a professional photographer. He has asked me to take him out to the Book Cliffs area this year to take some photographs. He is primarily interested in shooting landscape, but said if the opportunity arose, he would like to get a few pics of some decent bucks or bulls. Im not too familiar with antler growth cycles, so I dont know when the best time of year is to go. Could someone give me a heads up on what kind of growth I can expect in Eastern Utah in late July, August or September? If you were going to photograph, what time of year would you choose and why?

Thank you for any input you can give.

End of july they are almost fully grown, end of august they start rubbing there horns, end of sept almost all have rubbed off velvet.

I agree with drake,I like to photograph them in july while they are in full vevet and are in large bachlor sp? herds.
