WHO IS GONNA SCORE IN 2004?

Well the bucks are growing velvet at an incredible rate this year. I predict that 2004 will be a banner year with some huge bucks hitting the ground.
I feel my chances are decent to get a wall hanger this year if I have enough days to hunt. My set minimum size buck may be beyond my abilities but we will see. Currently I am obsessed with a particular buck I have been watching for the past few years. He is one heck of a smart buck and will be at his peak this year. Drew a muzz tag and will give him 100% of my attention.
One of those fringe bucks that wanders back and forth from public to private. God willing I will catch him on the public ground during the hunt.

We all know some guy's on here that seem to produce (every) year and this year odds are even better, that the average size buck will increase for them as well.
How do you feel your chances are this year and have you got an eye on your own particular buck yet?
I hope to see many of you with pictures on here with the grip and grin pose.
Best of luck.
Jerry

Good luck Jerry. I hope you end up getting the buck you've been watching. I'm bettin' your gonna nail him this year!

Still hanging out for a buck in the 170 + class, but seeing how I have never harvested a muley I'll probably settle for a forkhorn just to pop my muley cherry.

Course, not being one bit superstitious, I ain't saying after I think I jinxed myself last year for doing so.

A couple of BIG TIME lessons learned from last year I'll put into gear this year; working harder (and at some altitude in the weeks prior to the hunt) on pre-conditioning; breaking in my boots so they feel like moccassins (nasty ars blisters really put a dent in my abilities after the opening day hunts last year); hoof it in farther and don't pull the hammer back until I see something worthy.

I'll give it my best this year and hopefully be in the right place at the right time is all I'm gunna give up right now....

I have my eye on a real good Blacktail. I hope to help my son get him this year. I will try Nevada, Idaho and Sonora this year. Maybe I get a good one. I will have fun trying for sure. Good luck to all.

Jer,

I've got a feeling that this could be your year. You've been puttin the time and mileage in, w/ your spare time. Never down play your ability! You've got plenty. It's as much luck as anything. And, like you said, "God Willing" it will happen. When it finally does, there isn't a greater feeling in the world, IMO.

We need to get out and shoot the AR's, or muzzy's sometime. Word from the horse, you #1 search was finally ended! Congrats to you, and the best to "your family"!!!

I'm pretty sure I'll get a deer, but the rack size is the big question

Deer are like women in a bar. The closer it is to closing time, the lower the standards get.

i was given a honey hole in wyoming by someone who no longer hunts. supposedly the place is overrun with 24"-28" bucks. probably too good to be true, but i'll find 'em if they're there, just gotta draw a tag.

this is a shed horn off a buck from this spring that I have been watching. I havent had time to go check on him this year, but hopefully he will return as he has in the past, then it is only luck I need after that to hang my archery tag around that mass!

Thanks everyone and best of luck on your hunt.

Trent / OSOK- You heard correct. Finally!
I agree it is past do time to get out and shoot some. Email me or give me a call when you can so we can work something out that will fit both our schedules.
Best to your family as well.
Jerry

Jerry,

I hope you get that buck you are after. I hope to whack a brute, but that's what we all say this time of year. I did not draw either of the two quality licenses I applied for, so I'll be "fringe hunting" in both Wyoming and Colorado. I have a muzzleloader license in Colorado and will likely archery hunt in Wyoming. Not the best licenses, but I still have hope.

Good luck to you and have fun shooting with OSOK.

Jim

I have another crappy muzzleloader tag but still have dreams of that elusive 150+ mulie. Jerry, hope you get a shot at one of them big bucks you got your eye on and to everyone else good luck as well.

You have about the worst CO tag in the state, you'll be lucky to see a deer let along a 120" buck. Keep dreaming.

Well first good luck to everyone. I'm not too sure about my chances considering I'm not even surre where I'll hunt this year yet.. But I'll do my best as always.

Deerking- I know a guy who might be able to put you on a 150 deer.. haha. You crack me up man.

Deerking,
I guess in retrospect I should have questioned the source when I was told how good the tag was. Just goes to show that you can't believe anything you read on these message boards...
Either way, it feels good to be out from under all those preference points finally.

Jeff- 150+? Ya right add 30 more (+) inches to your 150 and then we know what you really are gonna get. LOL Probably more than one as well.
You are the man and the pressure is on. No doubt you will produce.......like the monster buck killing machine you are.
Now if I could only string along a couple years like you and a few others I would be happy and content.
Best,
Jerry

150!!! I cannot imagine even setting foot in the woods with sights set that high! My hats off to you guys for holding out for such giants! LOL

After seeing so many deer die this winter here in Wyoming I was discouraged about the deer season but to my amazement with a couple of excursions a horseback I seen quite a few bucks and the feed is everywhere. The wet spring weather we've had here has helped tremendously. Rode up on 12 Bulls one day too in a meadow and I've never seen that around here except at Teton Park. So I'm pretty jacked as usual for the upcoming seasons.

Jerry,
Can't wait to see your Thumbs Up Pics from that big 'un your gonna nail this year.
For me, I'm still waiting on the draws. Uh well, Uh, no I'm not. I guess I'll be hunting with my 3 over the counter tags in some premium units for 3 months straight instead. LOL! I hope to find some decent bucks in that time. Don't know if I'll be able to find any typicals close to that 150 mark though. Maybe I'll just have to settle for a 200+ NT instead. :)

Steve,
Sure rub it in about the three month season. I will have 9-whole days and only be able to hunt for five of them.:)LOL
I will be holding out for a 205-210 non-typical or a 180 or so typical or nothing myself. Of course I am not known to produce every year like some of you monster slayers but no more 150-170" bucks for me. Too easy.:)
Best,
Jerry

I have a few spots that I am going to hit this year. I missed one last year with my bow and hopefully he is in the same bed as he was 3 or 4 times last year. My dad also missed a good buck on a late archery hunt that we might have to try again. Good Luck to everyone this season....its almost here!!!

Hey Jerry.......maybe we need to talk. Heck, I'd whack a 170 buck in a minute and be the happiest guy on these boards! Man, I have to be doing something seriously wrong........

I sure hope 2. I think I can get to a little out of the way place in unit 28 that will hold a good buck or 2. IF not I'll try to get my wife on a good 1 around here. She is very picky and wont shoot anything small! Good luck to you all!
Jeff

Good luck, Jerry. Nuthin' wrong with that "little" buck you busted a couple of years back (as opposed to freedivr's monster). With my luck, I'd probably stand a better chance at winning the lottery than lowering the boom on a better than average mulie this year. Hopefully this ML season will treat us both good.

Coot

LMAO- Cooter I may just not connect this year either unless I get lucky. That would make two years without pulling the trigger but I am determined it's either something big or I eat the tag.
Yes the buck I got in 2002 was a decent little buck but does not make the "HOLY CRAP" list.
freedivr should be proud of his deer. A trophy is in the eye of the individual hunter.
Hope your getting around better and good luck on your hunts.
Best,
Jerry

hahahahahahh VERY Funny Coot.......

Hey Jerry........thanks for the good words. My first muzzlemuley was in fact a little 3 x 3 dink, but also, one small side note; those resident tags are a WHOLE bunch easier to much on than my non-resident tag would've been to eat, that's for sure. I gotta at least take a whack at somethin for 3 bills......
