My partner and I will be hunting second rifle season for elk, and he also drew a deer tag for unit 71. We are thinking about hunting around the Lizard Head if it's still hot and dry during the summer. Anyone familiar with this area that could give us a few pointers? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we won't be able to make a scouting trip ahead of time. We will be there in time to scout for a few days before the season. thanks kchamp

I am not sure if it was called unit 71 in 1972 but at one time the area where the Burris Buck was killed was unit 71. But 10 to 15 years ago unit 71 was split into two different units and the area where the Burris Buck was killed is now unit 711.
