My son and I are going to do the muzzleload hunt in GMU 239 (Twisp area) in Washington state this year. Anyone out there know where some hot spots are in that GMU?.

When you get to Twisp, flip a coin. West of the hwy. or East of the hwy. you should be OK.

239 or Chiliwist is actually not in Twisp but a few miles south. If you hunt West of the highway you will either be in Alta or Pearrygin depending on whether your on highway 153 or 20. If you are planning on hunting in 239, you might try Beaver Creek, although it is generaly very crowded. Benson Creek, closer to Carlton, is a good bet for local deer as well...................rf

I hunted unit 239 a couple of years ago with a late season buck permit. There are a lot of deer all over the unit. Some places I would look are. Texas Creek, Benson Creek, Finley canyon. Watch out for all the private property down low but there is a lot of public ground up high.

Get above the alfalfa fields and watch the canyons coming up from the valley and glass for the bucks coming out of the fields and up to the timber. There are some big ones up in the timber to.

There is good hunting if you come in from the top of loup loup or the bottom by Brewster. Just go out and find a area and scout for the big one. I see quite a few lrgal bucks every year in that unit. good luck.

Thanks for the tips guys. Were going to go over probably in August and scout those areas out.

just hunt in the national forest, there are lots of deer all over the place. lots of people too. the trick is weather. if its nice and cool your chances are better, wind helps also. there are lots of nice bucks in that unit. ive taken 3 deer out of that unit myself.
