Thinking of hunting one of these two units, which are located in the eastern half of the Bighorn National Forest. Anybody have information as to where might be good areas to look? My first time in this part of the state and will not be able to scout prior to the season.

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

Send me an e-mail and I'll try to help with some advice. I've hunted the area for the past 12 years as a non-resident. My parents live near Sheridan. The area is mostly private; however, the Big Horns are accessable, although it can be a tough hunt. Other options are to contact the Wyoming G&F for maps and walk-in areas. I remember going to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and received info on local land owners with reasonable tresspass fees. I've hunted from Kaycee to Burgess Junction and everything in between.

Longrifle 1, out!

The feedback I'm getting indicates about 85% of Region "C" is private land, and the rest is in the Bighorn National Forest. I have contacted them and purchased maps. Most of the lower Forest Service Land apparently has considerable forest, but there is some above timberline which is where I will look first. Mostly around Granite Pass and east of there.

If absolutely necessary I will look at buying access to some private lands, but that is my last resort!

May go for the last week, and try to miss some of the opening weekend crowds.

Good luck and might see you there!

Phil
