Wasatch Archery?

Just want to know how the LE tags holders are doing so far? I haven't heard of anyone being successful other than a few spikes and cows.

I've been out pretty much every day at least for an hour or two, and man is it quiet. A few bugles in the dark, but once the sun starts up, the mountains seem to shut right up.

Can't believe how hot it still is, and it doesn't look like the temps are to start dropping for a few more weeks.

How about you?

The bulls were pretty vocal down south this weekend. Really gets the blood pumping when they get going this early.
It has been pretty nice as far as weather down here. Actually needed a jacket after the sun goes down....
I haven't seen anybody with a big bull in their trucks yet, but I'm sure it will be happening soon.

It has been extremely frustrating to say the least to have so many spike hunters in my limited entry unit that I used 8 years of points to acquire. Almost all my scouting seems to be for nothing as all the places I thought I found that I would be able to be pretty much on my own have been overrun with spike hunters. I mostly blame fish and game but I really do not understand some of these spike hunters that are going so far back in to simply hunt a spike and mess up all my hard work scouting and hunting the same area. I had a spike the second day into my hunt off the road I could have shot.

You should of shot it and been done then so you dont have to whine the rest of your hunt. I bet when you didnt have a big bull tag that you were hunting spikes and in the way of big bull hunters???

My next neighbor's son in law took a nice 6x7 this morning. He took it this morning. It's a nice looking bull I asked him to post the pics on here for us to see. He says it goes almost 360

Rammu,I have never hunted a spike only unit and I have talked to several hunters, including spike hunters, that have the same feelings that I do.

ram poo, I anxiously await the out come of your hunt. Your the best hunter on this site guy. Now your telling people they whine when they make a comment about pressure? You can reach farther then that can't you? Surely you own the mountain and can help poor little hunters like the rest of us out? You just keep buying those tags while the AVE joe has to wait for the draw... then keep callin them whiners. I will have to start calling you KING POO

I helped a pal out last year the best day we had was sept 5th got a shot at 10 yards he hit that big bone in the shoulder and the arrow just fell out the length of the broadhead was all that went in but they did shut up by sun up. they got rocking sept 22 sorry that way after the bow hunt ending find water or a good wallow and hang out thats the best thing to do good luck

LL, You should have planned on the pressure you are hunting an hour away from a million people and there are going to be spike hunters every were, that is what it is about letting people get the chance to hunt. I do no what you are going threw I had the same tag last year and got dicked over by some jacka-- on a bull I watched all summer. Dont get down Its not like the elk are gone they are just in hunt mode which means you are going to have to hunt harder to get one. I got my bull after 17 day of balls out hunting. If you wanted a better hunt you should have gone with a southern unit. the odds of kills in this unit are low and that is because of the deer and spike hunters. Go all day and as much as possible and hopefully luck will be on your side. Good luck and shoot straight RBH

I just got back from spending 11 days on the Wasatch chasing 2 monsters. I nearly closed the deal twice. Once it got dark on me as the bull closed in to 20 yards. I could not see my pins. 2nd time the bull held up about 90 yards away and destroyed 2-3 quakies while his girls watered under me. When the cows left, so did he. Both bulls are over 350. I have really struggled with "other" hunters. This was a gift type tag for me so I have no complaints. I have never seen hunters in "my" area before. Turns out they are rifle hunters who switched over to archery to draw out and actually hunt! Now if I can just convince them that doing drives and pushing the bedding areas is not ideal styles of bowhunting, we just might have a chance at success. I have passed on several bulls under my stand. Not quite ready to shoot a smaller bull. I wish all of you hunting good luck. Don't get discouraged as the best is yet to come! This hunt is a success even if you eat tag soup! Not everyone will get to chase a big stinky bull! Take time to absorb the hunt around you! If luck is on my side I will post pictures. You all do the same! Good luck!

Was leaving for work when neighbor called and said his father had shot a good 6x6. He asked if I was available to go help pack out... Said, "absolutely!" What an experience. The hunter had worked area for last 10 years. They had hunted spike every year but because of this, they knew where to go. They took a spike in the same area, earlier in the hunt. Today, the father took a bull with his tag he had waited for 8 years. He had taken off work and was on his 12th or 13th day. Same routine everyday. several close calls, several skunk days.... and then finally all the pieces fell into place. He took a great bull at 10 yards. The bull was incredible after working the area, scouting their patterns, and waiting them out. He knew they'd come... he just had to be there. And the day, it did, Game Over! I don't know if the proud hunter is a MM'r, but I will make sure a photos is to follow, with his story. I talked to his son about it on the way home. Stay Tuned! The bull looks great on the backpack!

ss,

I cannot wait to see one of these monsters dead and in your living room. Damn it is great chasing Utah monsters!;-)

Moosie,

You need to post a pic of that Utah 4 point from last year? I never saw it! So has bt got you lined out on a monster? Take a deep breath Moosie! This is not I-Da-Ho!!!!!

I can't wait to see that monster in my house either! It is sure amazing watching those big ole bulls! They are truly an amazing site!

KTC, I just read that a 372" bull is Small and someone wasted a Tag on it. If I show you my 18" 4 point I killed I'll be laughed out of mm.com land eventhough I was happy with it.

I lost all mypictuers I uploaded last year so give me a few to find them and Re-link them with my story that I through together.
