Anybody familiar with Bearpaw outfitters from Coleville,Wash.
Been looking at their south/east idaho mule deer hunts.
Seems like they have many options (guided, semi guided, drops etc..) Any input would be great. Either here or via e-mail
[email protected]
Thanks

I hunt a lot of the same area (in Washington) that they do. I have heard good and bad. Mostly bad. Mostly unethical and poor hunts.

The whities are fantastic! Between my #1 hunting buddy and I, we have about 16-18 P&Y and B&C whites from, with the exception of 2 or 3, Ferry County. My best is a 168 8/6

I worked with a gal that used to have a huge walk in freezzer that kept alot of the game that bearpaw harvested, especially during bear season. I think unethical is a good description of their practices. If you want to tag something, they are probably ok for you. If you want to do it legally, fair chase etc., you might want to revisit your thoughts. She told me alot of things that were definately not good, and she would know.

I did a self guided hunt with Bearpaw last year in Idaho. Basically, I just stayed at their place with abunch of other hunters.
I think they run a great outfit. Dale was up every morning with breakfast ready. Everything was very nice, it was a lot better than sleeping in my trailer.

They were guiding several lion hunters while we were there, and the lion hunters were very happy with their hunts. All took nice cats, and had fun stories to tell every night.
I'd recommend them to anyone.

I saw a pretty good show on the outdoor channel that was featuring a mule deer hunt in MT with them. It was a pretty good hint and they killed two really nice bucks. The also go by another name in MT. Soemthing like big sky hunting. It was on the Northwest Hunter TV show.

Brian,
My partners and i were looking at bearpaws self guided south east idaho hunt for mule deer. They have a deal where you get a
"drive to" camp (tents, cots, etc...) They provide all the food
and the cook who they say is an experienced hunter in the area and can advise you on where to hunt. I think they will provide
wheels too (4 wheelers, 4x4 pickups, etc.. ?? i think) Price seems reasonable. Don't know exactly where in s.e. idaho though.
Where did you go ? What were you hunting ? How'd you do ?
We do an out of state hunt every other year 2004 is our off year
so we're planning for 2005.
Any comments would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks, Barry

I am actually guiding for dale and his crew this year and from what i witnessed last year he is an ethical hunter he makes sure that all hunters and guests are well informed of the state regs. and if someone doesnt follow the rules hunts over better luck next time. Dale hunts Franklin area for Elk and deer as well as guided hunts on the whites valley cwmu in northern utah. if you need any more info let me know.

Are they producing good bucks up there or is S.E. Idaho a thing of the past? Are the Bear Paw hunts worth it?

Thanks, John

Hey BBH,

You say that Bearpaw hunts the Franklin area for both deer and elk? How do you do on deer in the Franklin area? I have a SE tag and have been doing a little scouting in that area and am curious as to what caliber animals other people are seeing or have harvested. I can't belive the number of elk I saw on my last scouting trip, no monster bulls but quite a few smaller bulls and tons of cows and calves. I have seen a few bucks, but nothing spectacular so far.

Yes.....I spent several days with Dale last year as well.
I was very happy with the accomodations and as Brian said
Dale had meals prepared regularly. I was on a self guided
guided hunt as well, Dale pointed me in the right direction
I seen numerous bucks most being small, but finally spotted
a good one. However, I was unable to connect but so goes
the sport! Maybe this year! Good Luck.......

Hey polarbear

Would you be willing to share your whitetail secrects ??
I have some old friends (have'nt seen em in lots of years)
Last i knew they lived in Rathdrum ID. Probably still do.
I hunted elk near oro fino this last year and struck out.
But saw some good whitetail bucks. I kinda caught
"whitetail fever". Would like to come back and hunt em !!
Any suggestions ??
Thanks, Barry
