I have 7 days left of scouting before my archery hunt starts and I am in the search for a big big bull. I have seen a few pretty darn good bulls but I am still looking for THE bull. Has anyone hunted this unit in the past? I have looked lots of places in the unit and I am still a little unsure of where I want to start. I have waited ten years for this tag, I have scouted a bunch already and plan to scout for seven more days and then hunt the whole hunt. I'm not looking for gps coordinates but I would like to talk to people who have hunted here in the past with a few ideas of where to look and what to expect as far as rutting activity. Does anyone know this unit? Thanks for the responses

Are you sure you only have 7 days left before the season starts? The season starts on the 14th just though i would let you know.

I think what he said was he had only 7 scouting days before the hunt and not 7 days before the hunt.

Yes thats exactly what I meant. As I said previously, I have seven days of scouting left before my hunt although the hunt starts the 14th. Lets go bulls! Thanks

Coues,

Congratulations on my tag, I mean your tag! With seven days of scouting left on top of what you have already done, would say you are light years ahead of most if not everyone going into this unit. Ihave been in this unit a few times, but afraid not much help other than I think you will do real good and have a great hunt. Sounds like you are feeling the pressure of a en year wait, but relax, hunt hard and you will kill a monster bull, I am sure. Doubt anyone gonna dial a 400 in for you if thats what I am reading between the lines of your post, but sounds like you are already barking up the right trees. Good luck on your man. Look forward to seeing a pic or two of your success.

You are scouting so don't worry about it. The bulls move in there as the hunt gets closer. I doubt anyone is going to give you any spots. Remember everyone is waiting ten years for the tag and next year is the year! I have let people know of spots before and then their friend or family draws the next year and wouldn't you know they are in your spot. Human nature. Just continue to put in the time and you'll find a good one.

Watch for the big bulls along the rim road early before they join the herds.

However, the best bull I have heard of was killed near the paper mill. Ken

The hay fields north of the paper mill. Big tame bulls that have water and good feed.

Don't listen to Bubbas, he doesn't know what he's talking about! lol just go down that one road on that ridge until you reach that big pine tree. Just on the other side of the tree there is a huge bull hanging out there. No seriously, you've prepped pretty well, and you shouldn't have any problem finding a good bull. Good luck.
