7MM WSM?

Hey just a question got an elk tag for november and want to buy a new gun. I saw an awesome 7mm wsm and was wondering if anyone is an owner of one and wondering how they are for deer and elk? anyway any one with some input good or bad let me know?

I happen to own a 7mm Rem Mag and this year got a 7mm WSM. I am shooting factory ammo out of my WSM so far but know that both are great for deer and elk. I have cleanly killed elk out to 400 yards with my 7 rem mag. A lot is said about the 30 calibers. They are definately awesome for elk as well. That said, I would not trade my 7's for anything. If you get the 7, go straight to the 160 grain and shoot a well constructed bullet,ie nosler partition, barnes etc.

The only down side to the WSM is they seem to feed just a tad less smooth than standard cartridges.

Shot placement and Bullet construction are critical with elk. Good luck to you and good luck with your hunt!

Awesome gun great for elk 160gr federal premium W/nosler partition 3-9 40X Bushnell elite3200 firefly that's my set up love it. good 2-3 inch group at about 300 yards that's in the vitals of a deer, elk, or jackalope so it works for me!

I got a browning A-bolt 7MM WSM for my son when he was 9.. great gun plenty of knockdown,, not too much kick.. also love the 160 grain bullet in all my 7mm

have one browning A bolt, a deer killing machine, hunt in s.e. okla. longest shot so far with it around the area of about 280 yards of prime bottom land. its a great gun

I have the same prob with my 300WSM...shoots good though maybe cause its a remington ? but i like the short action....

Ive never shot or do I own a 7mm wsm , but my last trip to walmart they had a sale on 7mm rem mag and so i bought a boat load of them . Turns out three of the boxes were 7mm wsm , of course they wouldnt take them back so if someone can use them and wants them let me know. I could keep them forever but I do not see myself buying a 7mm wsm anytime soon , I am to fond of my rem mag for that. Ill give them away to any MM member.
