Unit 39 Colorado

I drew a unit 39,46 muzzleloader deer hunt for september 11-19. Does anyone have any experience with that unit? What is the quality of game and a reasonable expectation for deer? Any info would be appreciated. Does anyone know what usgs maps I may need for these units. I know that it is high country and it is going to be tough hunting.

Yep lots of experience. Holds some pretty nice bucks in a few good timberline pockets but most of the country is void of deer. Hunt the fringe country between the stunted pines and willows well up past timberline. Bring good optics and save your legs... you'll need em for the pack out if you are successful. Good luck.

elkwll for map info go to the colorado division of wildlife website,click on the word hunting and a list will appear select regulation brochures scroll down and u will see interactive gmu maps click there and select your units a map will appear with a bunch of boxes on the right hand side of the screen.click the box labled usgs quad index. scrool down and click refresh maps, u will have to zoom in on the map and the quad names will appear in yellow. u can also add game maps that overlay the topo map with game concentration, moverment, summer range ect. i have used this to get the quad names for the unit i will be hunting. good luck, razorback.
