Man Oregon Is Screwed Up When It Comes To Hunting Seasons. Right now we are in the middle of Archery Deer and Elk and ODFW lets Rifle Hunters Hunt Deer at the same time. Looking forward to seeing a million yahoos on quads carrying rifles shooting what ever has a horn.... Like it isnt hard enough to kill an animal with a bow. I think they gave out 3500 tags for the High Cascade Rifle Hunt. What a bunch of idiots. Well out to battle the lead throwers. Sorry for the venting....

Bow only for deer where I am at.(eastern oregon)

What kind of hunt are you referring too? Unit #? etc

I hunt elk in the Cascades. They let Rifle Hunters hunt in the Cascades for a week and a half during archery season, then if they dont get a buck then their tag turns into a general season buck tag for the the units west of HWY 97.

Ran into a lead thrower yesterday over in dufur. He said he had a special tag.

Yeah I agree! They don't all stay in the wilderness either(high cascade buck hunt). If you look at the Regulations there are 19+ hunts that take place during archery season that are rifle or muzzle loader tags. Makes a lot of sense doesnt it. In the early 90's they actually opened up rifle deer season in November during our late archery season. Talk about a bunch of over-educated idiots making our game laws!!!!!!!!

I'd rather be huntin!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-10-07 AT 03:47PM (MST)[p]OH Yes! The famous High Cascade hunt. This is great if your a rifle hunter but it's like having someone set up a rifle range in your backyard if your a bowhunter. It can get pretty annoying listening to those rifle blasts as your trying to close the distance on an elk. I was hunting elk in the Wilson unit last weekend when someone decided that it time to sight thier gun in. Bye bye MR. elk. Made me made even though i rifle hunt also.
