It means it's truly as big laying dead on the ground as it was when you pulled the trigger on it from 200yds.....

I think it elludes to the fact that when hunting & nerves get the better of you, you might pull the trigger on something that is slightly smaller than you are really going after. Ever shoot one that looked HUGE through the sights, but when you got to it you noticed that it wasn't quite as big as you thought it was?

That's ground shrinkage! ;-)

It means after you shot the animal and go up to it the horns wernt as big as you thought they were ... thus ground shrinkage... just a saying.

Basically it means that you get so excited when you see the animal, it looks twice as big as it really is. Then when you get to it, after it's dead, it doesn't seem nearly as big. If you kill a monster, it will probably be even bigger than you thought, and have "no ground shrinkage". Clear as mud? :)

What this means is that the buck looks just as big dead on the ground as it did alive. Like if you see a buck on the skyline it looks bigger then as if it where on a hill side.
