Posted this on the general hunting site thought i'd try here too.Looking for any info i can get on idaho whitetails. Got a little taste of it last year in the Lolo b/dworshak area. Was primaraly after elk but saw some pretty nice whities. Want to go back next year and target just deer. Is this a good area? Are there better areas? Ilove the fact that tags are readily available. Any help muchly appreciated.
Thanks, Barry

How do you plan to hunt them? One of my favorite hunts is driving them on a rifle hunt. I also like tree standing them with a bow. They are a LOT different to hunt than mule deer or elk. Lots of fun, but it helps a lot if you know what your doing. There are a lot of good videos out there.

I love hunting whitetails. Here is a whitetail I got last year. Scored 167

Nice deer, I'm no whitetail expert, but kind of wondering if that is an Idaho whitetail with the clover?

without the flash it was pretty dark. I have to admit it was a lucky shot and story.

Soupcreek thanks for the reply. I'm a rifle hunter only.
mostly hunt blacktails here in oregon. usual method is
"still hunt" or drive. Very brushy steep country. I have talked to some of the local guys around oro fino and they say that rattling can be very effective. ( I thought that only worked
for bubba and jed down in deliverence country) but hell i'm willing to try anything. I think i would have a real hard time sitting on a stand all day. I need to get out and hunt em.
Seems like all the whitetail videos are centered around the midwest/southern states (bubba and jed). Do those tactics work on northwest whitetails??
Thanks, Barry
