I was e-mailed a pic earlier Tues. of a monster velvet typical 4x4 (plus eye guards) just killed up in Nevada. I'm hearing a score something like 205" net! Wouldn't that be world record status? Only got a profile pic, but WHAT A HOG!!! Sorry, I don't have permission to post or forward the pic to anyone, but I'm sure you'll see it soon ...

Lv2hnt

The hunt started last weekend and I can also confirm that the buck was killed. Heard a gross score around 210 and a net around 205. Can't post any pictures though.

Cass,

Do you ever read the regs ? several areas opened on the 7th. of August. 111-115, 121, 131-134, 221-223

JB

Pictures please, This has a lot more into it than just spectulation. More info please.

-Cass

Cass is right. Too many people claim big bucks on this site, but no pics. If it's real, it will be a MONSTER!

What a waste. There is nothing like hard bone polished nice and dark on some good spruce or pines.

I've seen the pics. too.. He's a monster.. There were a lot of profile shots of him, but no head on shot, which makes me think he was not super wide(probably 25-27")...but he is super high and heavy, with some huge points.. I bet he looks awesome from the front..Awesome buck!!

>What a waste. There is
>nothing like hard bone polished
>nice and dark on some
>good spruce or pines.

I'm sure the hunter isn't thinking that right now!

Why a waste? I love seeing a big buck in the velvet. I would get a big buck mounted in velvet in a heart beat if I ever get a nice one.

Mark

I dont have the time to get into a picture battle with you nunya, this has a lot more to do with a couple bucks I have been watching over the past 3 years in one of those units.

-Cass

I'll testify that boneaddicts comment was tongue in cheek...hehehe But I too like a good hard horn!

Yep, I'll bet you've had your sights on that guy for a while Cass. Darn it, now you'll have to fall back on a measely 195 buck.

Cant wait to see it, and also cant believe people are out hunting already!!! JEALOUS!

Sorry cass just cant pass a chance to give ya a little poop.
But shouldnt you know when a hunt starts on a unit you have been keeping such close tabs on smoker bucks?

I'll bet it was Cass's buck. The nerve of some hunters.

Boneaddict, I agree completely. I don't like dead velvet bucks at all. Alot of guys do but I don't.

JB

Nunya, POINT WELL MADE! It seems that if he was keeping tabs on some bucks for 3 years in that area, then he should know when the hunt opens.

Ridgewalker:

Are you Jim's brother? If so, I helped with the taxidermy on his non-typcal elk that scored over 385 a few years ago ...

Probably harvested by a non-resident hunter who has never seen a Muley, using an out of state guide, who has cameras on every water hole. Oh ya I forgot about the ultralite plane they were using to scout 2 days before the opener. Hey just calling them as I see em !!

Sorry to hear they killed your buck Cass. I know you've been holding out on him until he could grow those last few inches. I guess it's never too early to bow out on the big buck contest this year.

nvsportsman,
What the average Joe can't kill big bucks anymore? You sould have a look at the MM big buck contest winner from last year. Buck scored about the same. Shot by an Average Joe. No guides, no chuteplanes. Just done the old fashion way.

Hey cass look on the bright side, as said above at least now you have an excuse for not winning the big buck contest.

BC boy I am assuming you're from Canada. (?) Here in Southern NV we don't have the rainfall you have, nor the stream or river system as Canada does. For the most part our big game use springs, wells, or water developments. It is very easy to use a camera or aircraft to scout for big game in the southern part of the state. I know this for a FACT, as I have seen this for myself. I can provide you with pictures of cameras that are set up on several springs I have visited this year. And you should also ask residents in some of the towns in Southern NV if low flying aircraft are a problem in the adjacent mountains. I understand your point of view, although it seems that over the past several years, technology has taken priority in finding trophy animals. Where does it end ? What is ethical or moral to our big game ?

THIS CHUTE PLANE IS WORKING FAIR SO FAR!!!

I CAN'T WAIT TILL IT'S MY TURN!!!

I HAVE NEVADA TAGS ON THE CHUTE PLANE WHEN WE NEED THEM!!!

OUT OF STATE GUIDE???WELL MAYBE!!!(HE,HE!!!)

I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MAD PEOPLE GET WHEN SOME RICH OUT OF STATE GUY WHO HAS NEVER SEEN A MULEY OUT THE WINDOW OF A CHUTE PLANE HIRES AN OUT OF STATE GUIDE,STARTS THE HUNT EARLY ACCORDING TO Cass,USES CAMERA'S AND THEN THE CHUTE PLANE TO BAG A 200"+ MULEY!!!(WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT???)

THE ONLY bobcat WONDERING WHERE IT WILL ALL END???

nvsportsman, don't judge a guy that you've never met, seen, or heard of, just because he killed a bigger buck that most of us will in our lifetimes.

Michael

Nvsportsman,
Noticed that you are new. Welcome to MonsterMuleys, land of Average Joes killing big Bucks :). We've had many a debate over technology on this site as of late. Not really wanting to go into that again myself. Just curious why someone would jump to the conclusion that there are guides and shootplanes and outofstate hunters that have never seen a muley before based on the rumor of a monster buck being shot. Even with the advances in Technology it is a fact that most monsters are killed by regular joes who just have a little (or a lot) of luck.

I guess this kind of crap will never end. Jealousy will kill the sport as we know it.

Congrats to the lucky hunter...

Drum

Drum and BC:

It sure is good to know guys like you are still around --- we hear WAY too much from guys like nvsportsman!!! From what I know, the successful hunter is someone we'd all be fortunate to hunt with and call our friend (a class individual)...

No, my main concern has been my archery bull tag I drew this year. I struck out on the archery deer tag, so i didn't really worry about when that date started. You guys will get your chance to see what im talking about in due time. Cass is making a video ;)

-Cass

Cass I'm glad to see ya back! Its getting ol listening to all these whinners.

Hey BCBOY even if they put up a picture they will still claim it to be no where near what it scores anyway. ;)

Well, I for one would love to take a look at this buck. I am sure the hunter is pleased as punch.

C'mon guys, we ask for stories and photos, no need to make unnecessary judgement on the buck or the hunter. Could that be why we no longer get stories and pics? Look what is happening over on the elk forum with the Indian thread. Those are nice bulls. Who gives a crap what they score, nice bulls for sure.

Cass, you are a ratings getter. Don't let these guys run ya off.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-12-04 AT 10:37AM (MST)[p]I'd love to see the buck too.

Maybe what nvsportsman was saying is that all too often the irony of it is that you hear of some great animal being taken and get all excited about it only to find out it was taken under questionable circumstances or by a person of questionable integrity or the story was embellished. I can think of a few examples of record book animals being taken by guys who I wouldn't cross the street to pi$$ on their head if their hair was on fire. I can also think of examples of guys taking animals that people made the wrong assumption about that really did deserve to kill a great animal. Maybe nvsportsman was too quick to assume but I understand. It's human nature.

I really hope this buck was killed by a guy that worked hard for it, is a regular joe, here-to-fore unrecognized by his peers, and really deserves it. And I really hope it scores what we have heard.

Can't wait to see pictures.

They never do, I stay on this site, listen to when people ##### and moan every year. I've been on this site since the first month it opened. None of the original people that I used to post with are still here accept for killowatt / founder. I choose when to post, i choose when not to post. But my videos still coming out :)

-Cass

Its official!! GOING TO THE TOOL BOX Vol.I is on the shelves and going fast!!! There is some great footage the seven guys from California got of the ghost buck that scores a whooping 255" nontypical B&C. He looks like a doe standing under a dead juniper but it is the real thing. Get your copy today guys this one wont last long.

:) thats some funny CHIT... He's going to make a video this time. We're still waiting for the pictures of the first one!

Like I said glad to see ya back Cass!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-12-04 AT 02:57PM (MST)[p]LMAO

Whatta you mean cAss, I'm still here! ;-)

Oh ya almost forgot. The buck kicks cAss, too...

Sure, now everybody's gonna want to see this 255" buck so they can tear that hunter down too. Un-frickin-believable!! Somebody above nailed it when he said everybody asks for stories and pictures and then everyody rips the story and picture apart. Even if you show a picture of the 255" buck, some idiot is gonna say, "daaa, that doesn't look that big to me". WHAT A JOKE!

Nunya, that was great! Can't stop chuckling.

Sorry, but I for one wasn't here for the "Tool Box" incident. Could someone fill me in? Please? hehe

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

Pretty funny, NUNYA. Cass, I got to hand it to you. No matter how much they dish out, you keep coming back. You don't try to change, you don't apologize, and you don't post things like "RESPECT". This place is a lot more fun when you're around.
"Going to the Tool Box Vol. 1". That's classic.

I see that Greg Krogh, drew a tag in Units 221-223 for Archery Deer, just maybe ??? For sure a CLASS Individual and a "GOOD HUNTER" ---

Sounds like a monster to me!
Current world record according to the P&Y website is 203 1/8".....I have seen on kingsoutdoorworld.com that there was a couple bucks killed in the last few years that were bigger though and they were still pending. One was from Canada if I remember right.
Either way record or not....you dont find too many 200"+ typicals being taken....especially with a stick and string!
Congrats to the hunter
YB

I AGREE WITH BCBOY ON THE AVERAGE JOE. AS FAR AS THE BUCK I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHERE TO SEE HIM. I WOULD RATHER HAVE HARD HORNED MOUNT. VELVET IS NICE BUT NOTHING LIKE GRIPPING HARD HORNS. GET SOME PICS.

NBJB

If my videos published which I hope it will be, it's not gonna be a tacky "hillbilly" video. It's gonna have deer / elk / bear / whitetail all with bows. Hopefully my elk hunt will come out as good as I hope. I have 2 really great friends who will be up there as of friday until the 18th of sept. scouting 5 bulls from last year for me. 1 guy is a guide outa northern Colorado who works down here now, named Guy. The other guy is a landowner up in Ely who will be helping me as well. 3 Cameras, 10 people. Hopefully I can get that dream bull and make you guys eat all that SH!T you been dishin.

-Cass

Cass,

you do have your BLM and FS filming permits don't you ? Or is this all gonna be on private property ?

JB

I WANT THE VIDEO!!!

RATHER IT WAS A LEAGAL FILM JOB OR NOT???

I AIN'T WORRIED ABOUT YOU GETTING ALL YOUR FILMING PERMITS AND OTHER BS FROM THE FOREST SERVICE AND BLM WHEN THEY WON'T EVEN TRY AND KEEP ATV'S OUT OF YOUR AREA!!!

REMEMBER Cass,WE DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY HIGH FENCES IN THE BACKGROUND,JUST 'LEAGAL TENDER'(PUBLIC GROUND) WE KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!

IF IT COMES DOWN TO THE LAST FEW DAYS AND YOU NEED BACK-UP,YOU CAN BORROW MY NEW ATV(AERIAL TERRAIN VEHICLE)I THINK THIS MACHINE IS GONNA HELP???

GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER:WE WANT TO SEE THE PIC'S,TAKE BACK-UP FILMING GEAR!!!

THE ONLY bobcat SUGGESTING TO Cass,IT'S TIME YOU CHECK DATES,YOU'VE MISSED OPENING DAY OF ARCHERY DEER,DON'T MESS THIS ELK HUNT UP!!!

First let me apologize, when I posted my comment it was not my intention of bashing or,to say something negetive about any one person. I will apologize to any one that I might have offended.
There are those few individuals who will use every means possible to harvest a monster buck wether, its unethical orunfairchase.(Correct me if I am wrong)Personally, using an aircraft, or cameras on water holes is unfair to our big game, but thats just my opinion. I should not have conveyed my frustration on such issues on a forum about a potential world record. It certainly was not my intention of puting the individual who harvested this animal in a group who use such practices. For that I am sorry.

Bess...i am LMAO, too funny!
Cass...i always told myself that one of these days we would probaly eat a little crow on your behalf. If your not bs'ing us you've got a real chance this time. No doubt you have a tag possible to do it with. I am not going to hold my breath waiting on a video or pics....but i do wish you luck, i remember what it felt like to walk up on a bull of a lifetime in NV and would want anyone to get that chance. So....sssssssic em boy!!!!

I just saw the pictures of this deer and they it is NICE!!

It is Greg Krogh by the way.

-AZDude

AZDude sent me the pictures and I can tell you that this buck is a HOG! Before I post the pictures up AZDude is going to check with the hunter and make sure that it is ok to do so. Hopefully we can share the pictures soon!!!

NvrEnuf

Looks like he shot your world record buck you was watching cass.... Damn the bad luck huh. Sure cant wait for that video to come out so we can see what he looks like on the hoof. Hurry up cass.

Holy horns!!!! What a buck!

Does anyone remember what that huge buck that guy out of Kanab shot last year scored? I know that was a huge one as well, but I'm not sure if I ever saw a final score...

Congrats to this hunter!

S.

:)

What if his video comes out and it's of fallow deer in a petting zoo. That would be cool! I'd buy it.

I know the area he shot it in, Same area I have been hunting for 5 years. Same area NO ONE believed a world record muley would be in. Was I right? Yes, Do you all need to eat your words? Yes.
I didn't shoot it, I am doubting that buck is one of the ones I have been watching due to his width, Just mind you there is still more bucks out there bigger / better than that. Way to go greg!

-Cass

Cass

PLEASE SEND ME EXACT GPS COORDINATES,I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE THAT HOLDS BUCKS LIKE THAT!!!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING IN VEGAS,BUT LOOKS LIKE TO ME YOU COULD FILM THESE BAD BOY'S & MAKE A KILLIN, YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE,WHAT JOB COULD BE FUNNER THAN THAT???

OH,WAIT A MINUTE,VEGAS???YOU'VE PROBABLY GOT A FUNNER JOB!!!(HE,HE!!!)

THE ONLY bobcat WAITING TO SEE THE VIDEO!!!

cass, now you can erase that one. Geez man, i stick up for you one time and you let me down and revert right back to your former self. I am SURE that this is the SAME buck that you have been watching for the last...what...few years. Cmon on dude...maybe it is....probably not. If you have watched ANY deer for that long and not harvested it then your doing something wrong. I don't believe that living in LV and seeing some deer once a year when you happen to make it to that area really means that you have him pegged as to his habits or anything that might resemble that. Maybe you should go back and keep filming with your "crew" and get that video put together....or now that i think about it...it will probably turn out to be just another fart in the wind.
p.s. awesome buck!

did any u guys catch the buck on the cover of the new eastmans mag. it was huge like this one is scored 222 its a hog!!
Muley Man!

That is one big animal.

Pretty lady???????? Maybe I am missing something, but isn't "greg" a dude??

Cass keep the comments coming. I like 'em. You, without a doubt, are the most entertaining guy here. I don't care if you are full of it, or as honest as the day is long. Keep posting.

No, chances are that's not one of the bucks I have been watching or can't you people read? Only buck in the past 5 years I haven't been watching that wasn't typical was a freak that the locals in ely know about. He has a whitetail frame with all his points coming off his main bean and a big tripod on the top of his 1st point on his left side.
K im off for my elk hunt. Good luck to all fellow hunters!

-Cass

Nevada will always continue to produce deer of exceptional quality. I lived there for years and although I wasn't lucky enough to shoot a real monster I was into them every year.
Nevada has their act together. If the deer are not doing well they limit their tags.

Congatulations to the lucky hunter!!!!!

ktc,

My response to the "Very Pretty Lady" is in referance to the cover of the latest Eastman's Journal with a Velvet Buck on cover. When and if you see it, you will agree I'm sure.
I would post the cover but that is "a copy infringment" issue and don't care to go there.
