After much thought I decided to post a brief story of my 2007 Utah LE archery Elk and a few pictures.
I have been so amazed by the photos and stories thus far...that I hope this can keep pace.

Like all of you I have waited a LONG time for the chance to hunt. I was thrilled I finally drew the tag I wanted.

We hunted wallows for the first week, and then switched to calling and stalking.

It was 10 days into the hunt that I finally went back to sitting on wallows and a day later arrowed this bull.

His group of cows came in first and swung wide not coming close enough, but this boy wanted to wallow one last time.

He passed up wind from me at 8 yards. I let the arrow fly, it found both lungs (can you imagine if I would have missed from that distance.

I gave a cow call, he went 20 yards and stood waiting and listened. He then went about 50 more yards and tipped over.

WOW was I thrilled. Years of waiting and 11 days of HARD hunting had paid off.

Here is the first picture I took, as I found him.

My brother in law and best friend got after the cut up job the next morning..yes we gutted him that night:

The big boy paid us back, by almost killing us during the pack out.

Some key stats from my Bull:

2nd tine 22.5 inches
Beam length 53.5 inches
4th length 18 inches

Thanks for looking!

Not positive on the score yet. I am going to have him measured after the drying period.
He just had the WOW factor, so I shot.

About time you posted your story and pictures. I've been waiting.

Very impressive bull! Way to go! Good story too. I didn't know you had actually been hunting that long. AWESOME!

I do not believe you. Packing out with an elk like that would not almost kill you, you would be too excited! Great job!!!

bhunt...congratulations on a truly beautiful animal..waaaay nice. next time, don't wait for 'after much thought'...there are enough 'good guys and gals' on here to appreciate a great critter, hunt, and hunter...again, congratulations, and thank you very much for the good pics..

Great Bull!
Thanx for sharing the story and pics with us!
Thats why we are all here!

Congrats on a tremendous bull, bowhunt. That's a trophy of a lifetime, well earned & deserved. What'll your bro-in-law charge to be my best friend this week?!

I only had to pay him half of the meat, so it was a great deal for me.
Thanks for the kind words!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-12-07 AT 05:33PM (MST)[p]bowhunt,

I had to dig back in time to see your monster bull! I spoke to WARBIRDUM last night and he told me about it so I went back to find it!

Very nice! Sounds like a hard earned bull and I am glad to see you made out great on a very good tag! I bet you are still feeling pretty good right? You should be! Tough hunt, tough unit, but a monster bull makes it very nice!

WARBIRDUM told me the story. I can verify what you saw to a certain extent! ATV tracks in a closed area between the bow and muzz hunt in the very spot! If you were chasing what I was chasing it was UNREAL! I think you were and it was scary!!!! If you need my help you know where to find me.

Edit: I cannot believe I missed this bull and did not tell you congrats!

Great bull - Get that ticker in shape! Our prayers are with you.
