I've drawn a rifle tag for Nevada Units 171-173 (opens October 2). My tentative plan is to backpack up Cow, Peavine or Ledbetter Canyons in the Toiyabe National Forest. If anyone has hunted this area, I would sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

bcmulie,

I have the same hunt and just got back from a five day scout. I found somebody with horses and would suggest you do the same. You can walk in to that range but by the time you get there you will be spent. The deer are between 8500 and 10000 feet. Saw 7 mature bucks with the biggest not quite 200" and the smallest about 160". There are deer lower than that however it seemed the majority are way up on the mointain. The other thing is that the outfitters will blow right by you on those trails on horse back. Anyway good luck I would like to hear how you do.

Dave,
I think I figured out how to use this. Didn't mean to post your msg...again.
I finally drew rifle in Oct for units 61-68 North of Elko. Any tips on this area? Anyone??

Thanks,
Billy

Check this site too, says he visits it also. www.jolietbandit.com
