well after 30 straight days of hunting i have yet to fill my tag for elk just wondering if any of you fellow mmers have any info where i can take either a bull or cow just so the wife will quit saying i hunt too much. I am in utah so i am looking for a place to start on the wasatch extended any info will be appreciated.

thanks

wasatch front isn't the best place for elk. i've seen them there, but sightings are few and far between. try the uintah extended.

Desereteagle,

Isn't most of the Uintah extended private land???

Just wondering

LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-07 AT 02:34PM (MST)[p]alot of it, but it'd probably be the best bet for success. the elk on the front are few and far between... i don't kow if it'd be worth chasing one there. i've done it for a while now and had no success because of the cwmu on the backside.

The Uintah Basin extended area sucks for elk unless you have private property to hunt, and then it is only ok. I have some private I can hunt out here, it is one of the few places their are elk, I have gone twice and not seen an elk. One of the times I heard one bugle but It was probably a half mile away on some one elses land. I glassed for a long time and couldnt find him. Your chances of killing an elk in either extended area is next to 0% in my opinion.

i agree with huntifoo 100% its slim to none on success...

Give the wasatch front about a month then check back.
I hope you have good lungs and legs, you will need them!!!

WF holds elk but as stated early post---- have some good legs and great lungs!

As soon as the rifle buck hunters are done get going!

Double check the Antlerless Proc as there are some doe and cow elk rifle hunts and you must be wearing BLAZE.
