My friend Jeremy asked me to post this for him. I was able to be there with him when he shot the bull. What a great hunt! Beautiful 1st bull Jer!

After passing up a nice 6x7 elk early that morning I told myself that if I come across a nice 6x6 or better that I would take it. Later that evening we started walking up this hillside to get to some rock formations where we could sit and glass a couple canyons. When we started driving to this area Don said that it was probably going to be a glorified scout trip. While hiking up to our intended rock destination, Don changed his tune and mentioned that he had a good feeling. After reaching the highest point and leaving my dad down at the lower formation (to take care of some personal business), Don and I had a seat and started glassing the canyons. Not more then a few minutes had passed by when right down below us we heard something making its way through the choke cherries. By that point we saw my dad at the formation right below us and told him to stop. After listening to this unknown creature off and on for about 30 minutes in the choke cherries it stop again. Don told me that he would go try to push it out except he thought there was a good chance of it being a bear. So instead of pushing it out he decided to throw some large rocks into the choke cherries. About five minutes after throwing the rocks I saw this elk come out into the open hillside across the canyon. After getting my scope on it I heard both Don and my dad tell me it is a nice bull. After examining it for a brief moment I took my first shot and missed over the top. Then I took my second shot and hit him right behind the front quarters. This big boy was hit and stated making his way down the hillside and that is when I put one more shot into him in the top of the back, he went down hard and fast. It was one of the most thrilling times of my life. My dad was yelling in excitement and Don and I were giving each other high fives. This will be one moment I never forget. So much for being a glorified scouting trip!

That's a great bull! It's cool that your dad was there to be a part of your hunt. Thanks for the story and pictures.

One more thing... We've gotta give props to "lovinhuntin" from this site. He turned us on to the right spot and did everything but drop the bull in our lap!
THANKS JOE!!!!!
