IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!
This picture is a buck taken in 1928 or 1929 in Sonora Mexico. The young lady's grandfather had killed it. If I remember right Emmett Burrougs Was down in Mexico on vacation and seen these horns on a fence post in her yard. He handeled them personally and they were not fake. They had no reason to alter them. She was clueless as what they really meant. I think he offered her a good sum of money for them and she said no that it meant alot to her to keep them. Emmett Asked if he could take a picture of them and she obliged. I took a picture of his picture and that's the story! Emmett is the man responsible for the start of the Mule Deer Foundation. He also had some video's out on the market BIB BUCKS ARE BACB and a few others. His was one of the first that really had some good bucks on video and some of the footage was taken in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. Thats about all I can remember on this Gigantic buck. Ok Bobcat I can't get any bigger than that. But when we are through guideing this year I will show you some of our clients bucks from over the years.

That has to be a RECORD!!

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

Thanks Larry for giving all of us the "heart pumper". Man, what a buck that must of been to carry that rack around down there.

I thought bobcat had stumped you this time, but you proved me wrong! You are certainly Monster Muley material! Thanks for sharing

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

What the H@ll why haven't I ever heard of that deer, or at least some rummers of one being around.

Wow, that is gigantic. Even bigger than anything I could dream up! I didn't think thirtyincher could find a pic of a buck that wide, I've never heard of much over 48".....totally awesome!

P.S. I think it would be cool for Kings Outdoor's to make a computerized pic of a buck with that ridiculous rack!

Longrifle 1, out!

bobcat, & all this time you've been looking for a measly 40"er ?
BTW, how wide is the senorita ? ... only as a frame of reference of course :D

I've love to know the weight of those antlers and I'd have loved to have seen the neck on the brute that was carrying them.

Absolutely incredible buck if its indeed real.

thirtyincher

YOU FINALLY SHOWED ME A RACK I'VE SEEN BEFORE,(JUST THE PICTURE)I SEEN IT AT AN EXPO A FEW YEARS BACK!!!

THERE IS SOME CONTROVERSY ON IT BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER THE WHOLE STORY!!!

CONTROVERSY ON A 60"+ BUCK???

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

ALL THIS TIME I WAS THINKING HOW NICE DD'S ARE,AND THEN YOU BRING THIS BACK TO MEMORY!!!

THE ONLY bobcat WONDERING IF thirtyincher CAN RUIN MY HUNT ANY WORSE THAN HE ALREADY HAS???

That is the exact buck pic that I saw about 13 years ago in Seattle Wa at the Sportsmans exposition. An outfitter out of Soda Springs, ID had the pic at his booth. He told met that the buck was from Mexico and was 76 inches wide. I didn't doubt it.

how long would it take for a buck to grow a rack like that, and is his gene's still hanging around.......I'd wanna know what area he was taken in and if they can find the family that took this deer.....

I remember that pic as well over at the show. I remember the debate on whether or not it was real too.

What in the world?
Wow!!

As a side note: The shadow looks real.

Many thanks to 30 incher for posting.

oh my god thats huge it must have been the size of a elk!!!! i would pass out and die if i ever had that in my scope
Muley Man!

Thats right, we saw that together didn't we Doug? Remember them PIG bucks that Soda Springs outfitter had on the wall!

PErsonally, from seeing the pic then and now, I think it was the real deal....but what do I know?

It would be more believable to me if it weren't stained such a funky color. That just doesn't look natural, especially coming out of the sonora. Would be freakin' cool to see though if it were real. Those were the good ole' days of SE Idaho. I remember wanting to head down there in the worst way. Now that I had the choice of where I wanted to hunt in Idaho, and it wasn't really even a thought. Weird how things change. I remember the carload of books we bought over there and brought home. That area were were shed hunting in E-burg is all no Trespassing now. I drove the girls up there, I thought it would be a good place to hike with them. NO

last night i emailed the pic to boone and crockett's trophy watch. this is the reply i just got.

Looks very similar to a manufactured rack that was floating around about 6 - 8 years ago.

We have similar photos from over the years of rack screwed together - x-rays of one with metal plates and screws all over

Thanks for the heads up,

Keith

Cooler to think its real!!

YOu know there had to be some 70 inch muley roaming the land sometime?!?!

Yeah, that sucks Doug, I hate private property (*unless I'm the owner)!

I'm with you Kingfish. I do beleive that the rack exists which would explain the shadowing in the picture and all. I still think that it was somehow built from a mold or somehow created. I know a guy that took a bunch of different sheds and made a great big 210" typical out of different parts of each of the antlers. From 5 feet you would never know it wasn't real. This picture could really be hiding a lot of things. To me it's just on of those things that seems to good to be true and probably is!

I highly doubt those are real. It looks as though they extended the main beams and screwed on a few extra points. If they were hangin on a fence for any length of time they would have been bleached out. Someone's blowin smoke up somebody's tail. Good try Larry.

Wes

There is one fake buck at a fur trading place here in Idaho. I think it scores around 270"....at first glance you cant tell it is fake...but once you really look at it you can see the plaster and other stuff holding it together.
YB

I would like to think it is real but to me it looks like the girl is holding two sheds on the outside of another rack.

It's hard for me to think that Emmett Burroughs as well known as he was to be involved in a "hoax" as some think. If indeed Emmett was the one who had taken this picture, only he can testify if it was a true and honest Buck that was taken down in Mexico so many years ago.

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!Kilowatt,
You hit the nail right on the head!
Larry

Larry,
Thanks for sharing that photo with us. Can't say I've seen it before. That certainly would be something to see in person. Besides the width, I guessing it probably would be a Mexico NT record. What would your guess on those main beams be? :)

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!
Wes There was nothing screwed on or added and they were heavily coated with varnish. You say nice try. You have no idea what you are talking about Wes. I know emmett and he is not like that. This is real even if you don't believe it. You are calling me a liar and Emmett. Hope to meet you some day!
