LAST EDITED ON Aug-31-04 AT 08:13PM (MST)[p]Anyone here have experience with the Eagle Optics Binoculars Ranger Platinum Class10x42. I've heard that they are the same as the cabelas alaskan guide series. I've looked through them and seem to be very bright and clear. For 399 they aren't exactly cheap so i wanted some input from this forum. I've done some searches here but there isn't much info about these binos specifically.

Thanks

Rich

I have the Ranger 10x50 Phase Coated, which were the ones they sold before they started selling the Ranger Platinum Class. I like them a lot. They are sharp and work very well in low light. I have compared them side by side with my friends Swaros 10x42 in the daytime looking at a hillside about a mile away. There were no details that I could find with the Swaros that I couldn't also see just as well with the Rangers. I am more than happy with my binos. So I would bet that the Ranger Platinums are just as good or better.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-31-04 AT 09:35PM (MST)[p]The Platinum Ranger Series are supposed to be very good binoculars for the money and carry one of the best warranties in the business. I've never purchased binos from Eagle Optics, only lens covers, but I understand their customer service is superb. I read where one guy bought 8x binos and after using them for a while, decided he wished he would've bought 10x's, and Eagle Optics allowed him to trade, only charging him the original difference.

There's some great binos in that price range; the Pentax DFC SP's, the E.O. PRS, and the Wind River Pinnacles. From what I understand, the E.O. PRS, Alpen Apex, some Minolta's, some Wind River's, the Cabelas Alaskan Guide Series, and the S&W binos are all made in the same factory in Japan (Hakko) and them marketed by the individual company. IMHO, you can't go too far wrong with any of them in that general price range.
