Clarification

I want to clarify exactly what it was I did on that hunt this past week. In a word it was NOTHING. I was a very lucky man that had the honor to drive out and meet some friends on the Arizona Strip and have a blast for a couple of days. The MuleyCrazy crew did an outstanding job of finding, glassing, patterning and guiding on that deer. The experience is one that I will never forget. I did not get as good a look at that giant as I would have liked but the best part of the trip for me was the friends I got to see and the hospitality they extended to this very lucky Texan (me, not the hunter). The video footage of this deer is second to none, in fact I think it is the best wildlife videography I have ever witnessed. It is a treat to see deer of this caliber in their natural habitat. I cannot begin to describe the feeling I had while glassing for this deer, it is awe inspiring to be in country that produces deer of this caliber. It is an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life and I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you guys that allowed me to participate. I hope that this trip will not be my last to hunt with you guys. My main objective when I left Texas was to drive out and spend a few days with some of the best mule deer hunters in the country in some of the best mule deer habitat in the world, having the opportunity to see that giant deer was just an added bonus.

Thanks again guys,

Drummond

You is one lucky man I would love to be in your boots (atleast on the good days)

I just can not get over the fact of a buck scoring that close to 300 in the wild just think of the odds of a deer getting that big

All the things that buck had to get over to grow a rack like this is crazy if not almost a fluke in 5 1/2 years WOW and a DROUGHT every year since it was born

Do you think a couple years would have helped this buck get any better??

Or do you think a wetter year would have helped??

Just one in a few million chances of a deer like this it seams crazy to me with all the negitive things this TOAD had to live with I can not see this kind of deer being out there WOW is all I can say and atleast you can say you was there to see it happen Congrads to you and a even bigger congrads to the MuleyCrazy Crew

Its deer like this that keep me going when the going dont look so good I just think there is a Toad out there somewhere I just need to look over into the next canyon maybe some day I will see him maybe I wont but all you muley crazy hunters out there keep posting pictures and my blood will keep boiling and I will have enuff energy to get my 200 pound butt over the next ridge to find out

Thanks for sharing this great hunt with all of us

Drum,
Wish I was there, I'm very glad you got to experience that country and all those involved. I have hunted with a few of those guys and been in camp with them. I can't imagine a better time in the field or in camp. I would imagine your mouth and cheeks are just now returning to their original shape from all the laughing and smiling. By the way I know I thanked you in person but can't resist at this time to thank you publicly for giving back to Arizona's hunters and our deer herd when you took time out of your schedule last year and flew out here to talk to a group of AZ hunters at our annual ADA deer clinic. Thank you!
Very refreshing meeting a like-minded buck hunter. Good luck this fall.

Very nice buck Drum!

Was this like a govenors tag? or private property hunt?

Kevin,
I am still sporting a Texas sized grin, it was an amazing experience and I look forward to many more trips out to that country. I appreciate your kind words about the ADA Hunt Clinic but the real thanks goes to each and every member of the ADA for the effort they put into the deer herds of AZ. The deer that hit the ground last week is a prime example of the hard work you guys do each and every year. I am positive that I have never run across a more dedicated group of individuals than the members of the ADA. I really enjoyed talking with you about some of the giants you have seen up on the Strip over the years. Hopefully we can get together and swap a few more stories real soon.
