Here is nice Utah deer that I took with my bow at 30 yards. He is 28 inches wide(30 1/4 if you don't go straight across) and has 40 inches of mass. Not a monster but a good buck.

Heck thats a great buck, congrats on your success. You should be very proud.

Nice buck! It's exciting to see some great bucks being killed this year in Utah. Let's hear some more details about your hunt. Was your hunt a spot and stalk, or were you in a stand? What type of equipment did you use?

Come on man, give yourself some credit....that's a sweet buck. Not every year someone gets a crack at a buck like that....congratulations!

Good going, especially with a stick shooter! Great looking mass on him. Congrats!

Nice! Congratulations man! I bet he looked huge at only 30yds! Tell us more about your hunt. Did you stalk in on him or were you set up and he came in to you?

Thanks for sharing the picture.

Sorry for the late reply but I have been out trying to help my father take one of the other bucks that was running with this one as well as some traveling for work.

As far as the story goes it started a few months ago scouting and looking for a good deer. I was hunting the Wasatch and thought that I had a good chance at taking a nice deer but as luck would have it there were too many other hunters in the areas I had been scouting so all bets were off. After a few weeks of this I decided I would head to another area where I had rifle hunted. In years past we had seen and taken some nice bucks so I though that I would give it a chance. As I got to my area my luck had not change but this time it was the weather that was bad. I got to the top of the mountain and could not see a thing so I waited the rain out and ended up seeing some nice deer but it was also too late to start a stalk so I put them to bed and headed down the mountain to the truck and more bad luck. I started my truck and loaded my bike to find that my doors were locked and my truck was running and all I could think was what next. With no phone I was off to find some help. I finally found someone and used there phone to call for help. When the mechanic arrived he gave me a bad time and then unlocked my door which took all about 2 minutes and then said that will be 40 dollars. Nothing like getting it on the hill i guess. So after that we started talking and he told me where he had seen some good bucks so in the morning I decided to try my luck with the big 30 inch buck he told me about.

The next morning found me leaving a little later than I normally would so that I could be in the area we had talked about at first light. That's when it happened. While driving up the mountain I caught some movement and noticed a big buck standing right off the road. I took one look and decided I was going to shoot him thinking he was the 30 incher I was told about. I got off my bike and stepped off the road and found a shooting lane. I pulled back put my pin on his chest and released. The buck hit the ground instantly I couldn't believe what had just happened. I had just shot one of the biggest bucks I had ever taken right off the road! I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a bow hunter riding the road only to think good luck with the fork-n-horns. I was so happy stopped some guys to help me drag the buck to the road. After loading the buck on my bike I headed to the mechanic to tell that the 40 dollar guide fee was well worth it. When I got the mechanic shop out he came and I said well I got him. He took one look at him and said well you shot the small one, small one I though. Well he may be the small one but he is big to me and I couldn't be happier. We went back but could find the other bucks but had a blast. Here is to next year and the big one.
