Anyone hunted the Big Gulch Ranching for Wildlife property in NW Colorado for mule deer? I have some friends who drew this year and I am trying to collect some first-hand information. Thanks.

Hope someone post up about the ranch. I drew a late season Cow Tag for December and I'm curious to find out what the place is like. I've driven through the property north of Hayden and seem alot of deer, but nothing big

COHunter - I know people who have drawn that tag (December cow)and they always get their tags filled. Overall success rate is 75% but if you are willing to work some it should be closer to 100%. Since the ranch is spread out you should ask the ranch manager if there is someplace to get away from the crowds if that is your preference.

I hunted on this ranch for antelope a couple of years back. Lots of antelope, quite a few deer and a boatload of elk. The bucks that I've actually seen weren't overly huge, but there are still a few shooters out there. The cow hunt in December is usually pretty good, according to the ranch manager. The elk will hang out in the alfalfa fields like flies on dog crap. You'll definitely see alot of game. Good Luck!

Yes, I connected on one after missing a shot earlier that morning. At the time, I was using a 7mm wthby with 139 gr boattails......just a wee bit hefty for speedgoats. I've since downgraded to a .25 06.
for 'goats.
There is absolutely an over abundance of antelope on some of these RFW properties. There are indeed some good bucks out there, but anymore, it's a boatload of points to get drawn.
