Grouse Hunters?

I went up hunting to two different spots that holds several bucks, only to not find them in the area. My hypothesis is that the grouse hunters pushed them out of the area over the weekend. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation?

Know a guy with an Archery Any Bull Tag. Sat. (grouse opener) while sitting on a water hole, he arrowed a 300 +/- six point. Sometimes arrows take awhile to work their best effect right? Well, his buddies had a vantage point, and watched this elk trail his cows. It got a ways away into a stand of trees and all hell broke lose. Lots of gun blasts. Seems it ran into some grouse hunters? Maybe it was coincidence that they happened to flush a bunch of grouse at the same time these elk entered their same area? Shall we give them that? End result is that it really got the elk moving, they were never able to find it. Now, whoever finds this elk dead on whatever later hunt, not kowing all the story, will gripe and moan that archery hunters lose too many animals.
They called the Game warden he said since they couldn't prove they were shooting at the elk, he couldn't do anything. After trailing this animal for hours they ran into some aquantances that speculated it was the bull they saw (seemed to have something wrong with it)miles away from where they were looking. I know that Superman could have got over there and started to trail again, but this guy isn't superhuman. The Bull was still keeping up with it's cows (if it really was the same one)and after getting booed like that, they can go forever! Sad story, what do you think?

Greed and thoughtless actions -biggest threat to hunting I can think of?!

I went up hunting grouse Sat.

I arrived a little later than usual as I knew people would be archery hunting the mountain I go to. I ran into a spotter (dad of a hunter) and we talked for a bit and I asked where the hunters currently were as I didnt want to mess up their hunts. He was really nice and said it was "no big deal" and showed me where they were. I hunted below and out of the way from them and bagged a nice big blue. Unfortunately it was the only grouse I saw.

I've run into some mightly pissed archery people in past years while hunting grouse. I always try to avoid them if I know where they are, but sheesh they had 3 weeks prior to grouse to hunt and its no fault of the hunter if he runs into a archer while legally hunting grouse.

sounds like a bad hit bud...

I agree that it sounds like a bad hit. When you hit them in the boiler room they can't run "miles" and only look a little messed up.

Yeah, I found out that they think it was a high hit maybe got the back/ top of the lungs. They weren't sure maybe high thru the lungs? I've got to learn to say the right things on this site or shut up. Maybe the latter would be better. I mean of course the guys grouse hunting had every right to be there. It's just unfortunate if they harassed the elk. Left alone that Bull would likely have laid down a.s.ap. and been unable to get up in a few hours.(JMHO) Just the breaks. Besides - I'll be one of them there grouse hunters as soon as I can work it in!

I've heard that Elk have about five gallons of blood - takes a long time for that to drible out of a little hole. Wonder if it's true?
