Success with Wyoming Walk-In Areas

Has anyone hunted in walk in areas much? I realize that quality and hunter numbers vary greatly, but was just wanting some input on past experiences, even in other regions. There are a few walk-in areas in Region B we might try. There is quite a bit of other public land available in the Region.

I hunt mostly on Public lands in WY. It seems like if you are willing to walk 2 or 3 miles into a roadless area, you won't see too many other hunters. I have not hunted deer on the walk-in areas but have had some decent antelope chases in Region J. I have never hunted Region B but have heard second hand stories (from a friend of a friend of a friend)about guys filling deer and antelope tags every year in B but I don't know where exactly. Somewhere around Newcastle and possibly area 7. I don't think they ever get any trophies though. If you find a honey hole, send me a private email and let me know where it is! Good luck and hope you get what you are hunting for.

Most of the walk in areas get hit very hard. Since they are not remote, the wildlife are usually not in them very often or for too long. That said, there are still some decent bucks taken every year from the walk in areas. If possible, I'd go to the more remote areas first. You'll generally have less competition and better odds of success, especially if you have high standards.
