CO Unit 53

Hunting last 3 days of archery in Unit 53, hoping to fill my buck tag/cow tag. Scouted hard this summer, south of Paonia - Beaver Res./West Elks, looked promising, hunted the first 12 days of season with not a buck insight, saw some elk, either too high, or on private. Temps were in the high 80's, very discouraging. Looking to try another area of 53...Any input would be greatly appreciated.

There's a guy on this board named guywildstorm that has lived pretty much most of his life up in that unit, so I'd imagine that he'd be the man with the answers. I hunted on his uncle's place out of Crawford in unit 53 a few years back during the archery season. Saw some elk, but very few deer. We were in the wilderness area that bordered their ranch. Beautiful area. Hopefully, GWS will add to this.
