Here is some muley country most people on here havent seen. I was in the SE part of the state visiting family. I had a couple of free early morning hours to get my first muley fix for the year, and headed for the Missouri river breaks . I ended up spotting about 20 muleys on public land in a couple hours that morning with my binos and spotter with very little effort. 8 were bucks, but nothing of any consequence. Mostly forkies, and a few little 3-4 points. I have seen some dandies in the past near here, on private land though. Bucks from this area generally arent ever going to reach B&C proportions, but some decent ones do come out of this area.

A slice of the area where I spotted all the deer.

Another equally good, different muley area, but this was taken on more of a family afternoon trip. I've spent a lot of time on the river (Lake Francis Case) in the background ever since I was a kid. Near a very good private deer ranch your friends at RT have hunted in the past. Psst, this general area is a great whitetail area as well...

Looks like my fav. type of country to hunt! Great pics.

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

I drew a South Dakota Blackhills deer tag for Nov. There is a good population of mule deer and alot of whitetail. I can take either one. It's going to be fun.

Great looking country Bert. Hope you get a chance to hunt there sometime. Great glassin' country!

beautiful country, thanks for the pics!

guess it makes sense that the breaks of the mo in sodak aren't near as steep as the ones where i'm from (upriver)...i'm a bit slow in the head...

here is a pic of the area of the mo breaks where i hunt muleys...

Thats some great looking muley country as well. Looks like a lot of places West river in SD in the smaller feeder rivers. Lots of places for a buck to hide in badlands type stuff like that. There are muleys East of where I took the pics, but they are few and further between the further once you get very far from the river. I could show you some of the Missouri River breaks near where I whitetail deer and turkey hunt in Northwest Missouri, but the vegetation is just a touch different once you go south from where the pics were taken into Nebraska... mostly because of this strange substance that falls from quite regularly from the sky called "rain" :).

Yeah Jeff, that would be fun to hunt just for a fun hunt, and really it would be a better than average place for a better than really good public land whitey, but my out of state big-game efforts are pretty focused on my favorite rectangular State a little more directly West of where I'm at, where the air is thinner, the hills are slightly steeper and higher, and the muley bucks tend to get a little bigger... :). I can buckle down and get serious about hunting really big whitetail when my body gets too old and broke down to hike the mountains... :0.
