has any one hunted this unit for mule deer are any thing else

I hunted unit 29 years ago.The deer were very scarce at that time,due to the drought and several land owners killing every deer on thier property to leave grass for the cattle.We hunted four years around a place called "Deep Well".Always filled a tag but nothing special.At that time the season was only 2 or 3 days long.We saw lots of hunters in the area who had the same results.I talked to an outfitter from El Paso who said the January bow season was very good in that area.One of the land owners in the area got in deep water with f&g for burning down hunters camps while they were out hunting.He thought he owned all the BLM land he had grass leases on.He was an indian named "snow".If you hunt around his property keep an eye out.He also went as far as turning road signs around and writing "posted private property on them".But all said ,you can find a deer or two if you get high and glass early and late.Good luck.

I've seen some guys post questions about 29 in the past, but I don't remember seeing a lot about the unit posted here. There are a few guys on this board that might have some familiarity with the unit. Vinihunt comes to mind, and I believe manny 15 is from New Mexico as well. I have only hunted 30, so I'm not a lot of help. But I can tell you that several guys have told me that there are fair deer numbers in the Brokeoffs, which is on the western edge of 30.
