I dont have alot of details on this one, but I do know that it is a 14 year old girl with a good looking 5x6 that is 29 3/4" and roughs out at 188. Way to go, I hope the little huntress comes and fills us in on the details.

Well it all started at about 4 o'clock my dad, my brother Sam, and I went out to hunt. My thirteen year old brother started walking at the way other end of the pasture, looking for grouse. My dad and I went to scout for deer about 3-4 miles from Sam. When we came back with no luck my brother Sam was waving his arms.
So we waited for him to walk to us. He said"there is a deer in the brush." and "I think he's a nice 20in buck 4 by 4." So we put the dog in the pickup and started walkin to where he saw it. We couldn't see the deer. All we could see in the brush was an 8-10in hole in the brush were there was fur. We couldn't see the head or horns. We were about 175 yards from the brush. My brother sat by me and my dad 15ft behind us. I keeped asking Sam are you sure this is it. Is it a nice one. He kept telling me its an alright buck.
So I started aiming at this 8in hole. I swear I sat there for a good 20min steadying myself. During that time I asked my dad "get up and yell get it to move I want to see if I am aiming at the right spot." Well it didn't move. I was like man I am aiming at dirt not deer so I steady just in case and shot.
Then this huge buck jumps up my dad stands and says "shoot him again shoot him again." I couldn't get steady. But right before he went over the hill he kicked one of his back legs at his chest.
I went up to my dad he said "I think you hit him." We went back to the pickup and started driving down the trail in case we didn't hit him so we drove and we went about a a mile from where i I shot him. Then we went down in the creek bottom and looked for tracks we couldn't see any. We were back tracking are way to where I shot him. By the time we got about a hill away my dad was cussing he's said i dont think you got him. Well we walked over to brush he went intoi heard branches breaking. I said "dad I here branches breaking." Shortly after I relized that I figured out it was some birds. But I wasn't gonna tell dad. About a minute after I told myself that we stubbled over the deer. What a relief.he was 20 yards from where we saw him go over hill.
We had no camera so I went to get the truck while my brother and my dad gutted out the deer I called my sister and said bring the camera. By 6 o'clock we were done gutting him and we took pictures. We then took him to get skinned out about 30miles away where my dad had a friend who was a taxiderist. My dad didn't want to get any knicks if he skinned it.
This is a once in a lifetime opertunity and I have to thank my dad and my brother for all the help. Jezz I didn't realize it was going to be this long opps.thanks for posting. this is a north dakota buck.another youth tag hunter took a 30 inch buck 4x4.

Great story, and awesome buck, congratulations! What unit did you get him in? I was wondering how the deer were looking out there this year, I guess that answered my question. What unit were you hunting in? My wife and I both got buck tags in 4C and can't wait to get out there and see some like that. NDhunter.

I guess I should have hit reply at the last post, sorry about that. I'll be in the area Nov 6th and I'll be sure to stop in the cafe to see the hog. Are you getting that brute mounted (you should), if you are I highly reccomend Dakota Taxidermy in Bismarck, they are the best. I'm originally from Jamestown by the way (don't hold that against me), good to see other ND folks here.

getting it mounted. got a magazine that wants the story. great for my daughter.i have wider bucks but they don't score as good as this one.see you when you get here.

>dakotakid where are you from?we are

Sorry I didnt get back to this sooner, been elk hunting for a few days. I am originally from the Harvey area but now reside in Wyoming.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-14-04 AT 11:51AM (MST)[p]Hey Keri,

I just wanted to congratulate you on a great buck and the magazine article. I can't wait to come home one of these weekends and see him. Hopefully I'll see him by Thanksgiving. It's kind of cool that now my little sister is chasing the monsters. I guess I will have to beat your record next year.

Your favorite older sister, Abby
