I just joined MM and this is my first post, so hello to all. I've been bow hunting elk for 6 yrs now w/o a kill. I did call in a 306 P&Y bull for my hunting partner in '05 diy hunt in CO. I choked this year in the same place in CO and shot over the back of a 280 5x5 @ 40 yds. Still not over that one. I've been on two guided hunts and 4 diy. I have been so close (under 40 yds) about 25 times and as always... my luck goes the other way.
My hunting partner will be taking his brother this year on the diy in CO and I could go... but I'm going to pass. I need suggestions on a guided hunt where I would have ALOT of opportunities to score. I'm not looking for a monster elk, I just would like to kill a bull w/ my bow and if he scored 300 I would be estatic. For everything I could spend 8k.I'm 40 and in good shape. Our diy hunt in CO is at 12,000', so I can get around ok for a flatlander.
I'm looking for again, alot of shot opportunities that might put the odds in my favor. I want someone who caters to bow hunters. I've been on a bad guided hunt once and I want to make this a positive experience whether I get a shot or not. Let the advice begin and thank you in advance.
