I have a tag for unit 65 in Colorado for the second season. I believe it is Oct 30 to Nov 5. I will be hunting not far from the town of Montrose. I guess the deer move down out of the high country by this time of year. What can I expect during this season? Are the bucks starting to chase does by this time? Am I in a area that produces a few bruisers . I have researched the area and have talked to the local biologist as well as another guy who hunts the area extensively, so I know it produces a handful of nice bucks every year, however, I'd love to gather other info from guys that have hunted it. Email me if you don't feel comfortable posting [email protected]

Those dates are for the third season, second season starts tomarrow. Depending on how much snow is on the ground will most likely determine how many deer you'll see. I've hunted around Gunnison during third season and have seen more and bigger bucks around this time. More offen than not they are rutting, which means big bucks are more interested in following a doe then spooking off, making things much easier. You should do well I know that Montrose County is in the top 10 counties for producing B&C bucks. Good Luck!

Been huntin that unit the last couple days. My brothers wife shot a lil forky. It was the biggest out of all of 4 bucks we have seen so far. You will deffinately have to get off the main roads to find a decent buck. Numbers in that unit have gone down the last few years. There were hunters everywhere we went, so she just shot one to be done with it. The rut has not even began to start yet all the bucks are still hangin together mostly. Good luck!!
