2 Utah Late Hunt Bulls

Here are a couple of bulls that my brother (AntlersInc.) and I shot this year on the late hunt. It took us 12 years to finally get the tag. The hunt was extremely difficult as we had no snow, and temperatures in the high 60's. We normally see around 30 bulls/day in this area, but this year my brother only saw 1 (the one he shot), and I saw 6. We've picked up numerous sheds off of both bulls, and estimate AntlersInc's bull to be 10-11 years old, and mine about 6-7 years old.

Here is an as-it-lay of my bull. I hit him 3 times at 360 yards. He scores in the 350's.

One more shot--It took us until 2am to get both bulls back to the truck.

Here is a picture of AntlersInc's bull. He shot his about a mile up the canyon from my bull. It took 4 well-placed shots at 275 yards to bring him down.

A front shot. This bull scores in the 340's.

AntlersInc. and his son Kayson. This might have been the best moment of Kayson's life so far to see his dad shoot this bull. I think Kayson was shaking worse than the shooter. What an accomplishment for a 10 year old to wake up at 4am, hike over 15 miles, 5 of which were in the pitch black, get back to the truck at 2am, and smile the whole time!

Nice bulls indeed! Congrats. I'm debating on using my 12 points on a late hunt next year. Just got back from a late elk hunt in Arizona and must say that I like it. Not quite the same as hunting the rut, but nothing beats spot and stalk on big old yellow bulls either.

Thanks for the pics!

You can see how hard it would be to hunt these big boys in mid to late October. It would really reduce harvest.

Way to hunt hard and kill to great bulls, I am glad that the 12 years paid off.

Very very nice.

Congrats Bev!

Nicely done. It is a good feeling to put some dandy bulls on the ground after 12+ years! I would agree that this year's late hunts were tough. I have heard nothing different. Way to get it done!
