Howdy All
Just got back late last night from spending the last 22 days in the beautifull mountains of northern Navada. We finished out the early season with 12 bucks for 15 hunters. One hunter passed on a 30" 5X5 at 175 yards then a half hour later passed on a 32" 3X3, one hunter left without firing a shot to go home to spend time with his son and another 82 year old feller missed 6 bucks the last day of the season. The bucks in Nevada are in great shape this year with some of the biggest bodies I've seen in a long time. We had a ton of snow last week. By the time I decided that we had to bale off the mountain the snow was up to the horses knees at our camp and up to their necks going over the pass on the way out, there were a couple tense moments but we survived, it took us 5 hours to make a 2 1/2 hour ride. We'll head back out for the last week of the late season on Friday. It should be great with the snow and the rut begining

Great Deer Wes, I'm from Elko and have a pretty good idea where you were, you have to work to get bad boys like that but the work pays off, Great job!

Wes,
Congrats!!!Looks like you had a great year. Those are some really nice bucks you guys put on the ground. Looking forward to seeing your late season pics.

Wow,
Those are some great looking deer!! It goes to show if you know your area you can make things happen.
We hunted area 7 and only saw one mature buck in 10 days. My partner shot him opening morning (4X3 24" wide). I thought he had made a mistake, but after nine days of forks and very small 3 and 4's I was wishing I had shot first!! I am trying again the last four days of the season around HD Summit.

Nice pics Wes, but your killing me here! LOL Hunting early muzz has it's benefits but by October I'm having major withdrawls!

Hard to understand why someone would pass on 30" 5x5's. Thanks for sharing the pics.

This really makes me miss Nevada hunting. Great pics...looks like you guys had a fantastic time.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting. Sounds like a lot of work but well worth the effort.

Good luck in the late season.

Congrats on some nice bucks and some awesome photos. Love the ones of them live and in the rough country. That is some mean looking habitat...No wonder the bucks are there..
Thanks for sharing with us..

A bad day hunting is better than a Good Day at Work!!

Great pics and some dandy bucks. I really like the one picture of the two guys who both have what I call "idiot marks" from the scope whacking them. I'll bet they have some great stories. If Nevada ever sends me another license, I'll be back, and because of pics like those.

Great pictures and some awesome bucks. Love the bedded pictures. I'd have say to ya gotta give the guy who passed the 30 inch 5x5 credit for having balls of steel and confidence in his guide. Did he question his own judgment when you were taking the last picture of him going away? That's the moment of truth when you calmly say to yourself "What the !#&* was I thinking!!!! I'm such a dumba$$!" :)

Great pictures! Thanks for showing em'. You gotta love those two guys with blood drippin' down their face :) LOL!

Great pictures! I really enjoyed these! Especially the 'before and after' pic. Not everyone has the patience to take a pic "before" the shot! Yeah, and those guys with the scope bites must have been really tired from climbing them hills! They didn't even have the thought process or energy to wipe their faces!! Gotta love it...been there before too.

Thanks again,
Chef

It's a little warmer and dryer where I'm sittin also, unfortunatly I'm gettin ready to go do a real job. I'll be headin out Friday to finish out the last week. We saw a great 4X4 that will go 30" the last day of the early season. Max got off two shots at him but missed, he ended up missin 6 bucks that day. He got so mad at him self he told me to take him off the mountain, but I kept him goin. Right at sunset he missed the last one. He said he'll be shootin better next year. We should have taken some pictures when we were commin over the pass in that neck deep snow! Glad you made it home safe. I'll talk to you soon

Hello Wes, I also am from Elko. I saw your pics earlier in the season when you posted photo's of Liberty Lake. Beautiful. I can't seem to get your current pictures to come up for me though. Wish I could, I would love to see your Nevada monsters. I haven't been able to get a tag in Nevada for several years but have hunted that area several times along with other spots in that unit. Thanks for the post. fatrooster.
