salmon,
That is a beautiful buck! Well done. Looks like you were in some nice country. Was there much hunting pressure? Give us the full story.

First of all I want to thank Littlefoot for posting my pics. He is a class "A" guy who also helped get my nephew get his first elk last season.

On my deer, I was lucky enough to meet another MM member last year who had hunted the unit before and was nice enough to meet there last July(real hot) and take a day and show me around. He also drew a tag for the same unit this year and hoped to meet up but he wasn't able to be there until the 3rd day and since I already had mine and the weather was real warm it didn't work out. Opening morning we arrived at the canyon I wanted to hunt only to have a 4-wheeler go by on another road and 2 4-wheelers follow us into the canyon about 300 yds behind. Since I wanted to walk and stalk we couldn't for the fear they'd drive right past us. Anyway after about 1 mile they turned around and we parked and continued on foot. After about a mile we came to a split in the canyon. Not knowing for sure which one I wanted I walked up the middle ridge to see which one looked the best. It was here that I spotted my buck bedded down amoung the rocks staring at us not moving. I was able to get a rest and get him, range was about 375 yds. This is my biggest deer ever and am real happy with him!! Talked to the other MM member who had the tag after his hunt and he never saw a deer in 3 days of hunting, only 4-wheelers. Weird area and not allot of deer but a few nice ones if your lucky as I was. Thanks for reading...Tom

Real nice buck. Looks like he was a little lax at getting all his velvet rubbed off. Very cool.
