Birthday Wish?????

Well I'm leaving tomorrow morning for this years final attempt at a big old muley. Heading to Colorado first thing in the morning. I should be there by around 5:00 PM tomorrow afternoon depending on the road conditions. I plan to stay until my hunt ends on 11/5 or until I get my buck which ever comes first. Today is actually my birthday. I just hit the big 31. Now I'm older than dirt according to my little boy! I felt just like a little kid when I made my wish and blew out the candles on the cake my wife made me. Man I sure hope my birthday wish comes true!

Thanks a ton for all the kind words guys and Happy Birthday to you too Muleyslyr! Crazy our birthday's are on the same day ain't it! Well, I'm out of here. The anticipation of the upcoming hunt is nearly killing me! I can't wait to get up there and spend some time burning my legs in that 20 and 30 degree weather! Yeahooo!

Got my wish guys!!!!!

You guys are all great. Thanks for the kind words and for wishing me a happy birthday. I have a little something for you to check out. Yep, you guessed it. My birthday wish came true! I nailed my CO buck over the weekend and am very happy with him! I have a couple of pictures of the buck that I am going to try to post up before I leave for the day. Trying to get caught back up here at work is driving me nuts. All I want to do is think about and talk about my hunt! I talked to the guys at Muley Crazy and am going to be doing an article in the March/April issue on the buck so they have asked that I save my field photos for that. I really wish I could share those pictures with you guys right now! I do have a couple pictures to post that are not nearly as neat as the field photos but they show the buck pretty well. Thanks for all of your kind comments and for wishing me a happy b-day! Pictures to come very soon. Yahooo!

Here are the pictures. Finally!!! My first 30 incher!!! Man I'm excited!!! The buck is also the tallest buck I've ever taken at 23" tall! His G2's are over 19 inches long! Boy did he look big sitting in my cross hairs! I can't wait to get him back from the taxidermist and see how the mount turns out! I just want to thank my good buddy DeerKing for going up pre-scouting with me this summer. Together we located some great looking bucks. I have no doubt that without his knowledge and advise I would never have taken this great buck. You da man! ;) I really wish you could have made it down for the hunt too but I totally understand. Things come up now and then that are just out of our control. I just wish you could have watched that big old barrel chest hit the ground! Whew! It was awesome! Maybe next year??? Thanks again for your help man!

WOW that is a great looking buck, i sure wish that was MY buck laying in the back of MY truck! Congradulations. Deerking doesn't know it yet but he aint hunting with you next year, he is going with ME! The guy seems to be a big buck magnet and i need his help

Next year is my 31st Birthday. What does it take to get an antler spread equal to may age? How much time/money/and how many trips?

GREAT looking buck, thats about the best birthday gift a guy cuold ask for! Beatiful! What kind of mount are you doing?

You cuoldnt have hooked up with a better guy than DK to help you out, the guy sure knows his stuff.

Thanks guys! I am definitely still on cloud nine! I actually think it gets better and better as each day goes by! I am definetely going to have him mounted. Most likely in a semi-sneak slight right pose. I need to shuffle things around the family room a bit and decide for sure where I want to put him though. As soon as I can I will post up a couple of the field photos. Most likely around that same time I will be getting him back from the taxidermist. The field photos really did turn out pretty good. I can't wait to post them up. Thanks again for all of your comments and especially thanks to you Jeff for your willingness to point a guy in the right direction! What a great guy! Only about 10 more months and we can do it all again! I hope! :)

Here are a few pictures that I took this year while pre-season scouting up in CO for my hunt. Hopefully they work ok. I'm trying a new hosting site.

Check out the buck in the first picture. I wish I had some better shots of him. To me it sure looks a lot like the buck I ended up taking. This picture was taken about 5 or 6 miles away from where I ended up taking my buck. It's hard to say for sure with just this one picture. These were taken in early August so the bucks might have still had a little bit of growing left to do.

What do you guys think? Does he look like the buck I shot this year or what? If it's not him they sure must be very closely related.

The buck on the left is actually one that I originally planned to hunt for this year. Hopefully he made it and I can find him next year!

I know this is one of the most unique bucks I've ever seen in my life. Jeff is actually pretty sure he may have seen this buck in previous years and that he probably grows this same way every year! How about that mass! His right side is nearly as thick as his ear! The picture isn't all that great. I blew it up a little so you can see what looks to me like 3 different antlers coming out of his head! Unbeleivable ain't it!
