I am still weighing my options for my LE Elk application. 12 res pts.
Could anyone give me some info on the Panquitch Lake area? Are there roads everywhere or is the access difficult? Would it be a tough unit to hunt? What should I expect if I draw? How would it compare to Dutton, Beaver or Boulder? Any info or comparison of these units would be helpful. I want an area where I can harvest at least a 350 type bull and have opportunity for bigger. That being said I know nothing is a guarantee. I am not expecting a 400 bull but I dont want to come home with a tag sandwich either. Basically, which of these units would give me the opportunity at the best possible bull?
I am looking mostly at a Muzz tag or Any Weapon.
I am narrowing down to these units:
Dutton Muzz or Any Weapon
Beaver Muzz or Any Weapon
Boulder Muzz or Any Weapon
Panquitch Lake Muzz or Any Weapon
not expecting anyone to give their honey holes, just honest advise. thanks in advance

Holly Molly, almost too many questions to answer.

Dutton is a great hunt, lots of hiking opportunity in steep country.
Boulder is a little less strenuous, they shoot some dandies on it for sure.

They all will give you a great chance at a good bull. If you want to hunt this year, study the odds. You will do well if you draw any of those tags.

I think the San Juan is easier to hunt then all of the above units. They have some monster bulls over on th SJ.

All of the units you listed hold good/great bulls. I would look at your odds and either go that way, or go with the unit you know the best. Good luck. 12 points want get you close on a San Juan tag in 2008.
